Depends on the track. Some seem to like fresh new tires. Others like older harder tires.

What category does Mid-Ohio fall into?
It likes a well worn RA1. I qualified what had been a 3/32 set from last season on cycle #20 at 1:44.6 last weekend. The LF was corded when I came off the track.

I don't know which is faster: new tires with 4/32 shave or used tires, same size and origin, but with less rubber left? What do YOU think? Any proof or circumstantial evidence to support your belief? Thanks!

It is track dependent. MSRH for example wants quite a bit different tire than say, TWS.
