I am suprised that more National drivers haven't complained about the PITIFULL contingencys that Hoosier is giving in comparison to what Toyo has in the past.

Three tires is what they give out per race, thats about 450.00 worth of tires. TOYO gave out awards to the 10th place and that amounted to 1450.00 in CASH..

Who in the heck negotiated that lame deal :bash:

Pat,

I'm not sure if you are refering to all National Classes, or just SM. From the SCCA website, Club Race Contengencies, Hoosier is offering 2 tires for 1st and 1 tire for 2nd place in all National races, so 3 tires, but in 28 classes. For SM, they are also offering 1 tire for 3rd thru 5th place at each National race, meaning 6 tires. If the National is one of the 12 Super Tour events, the payout is 4 tires for 1st, and 2 tires for 2nd thru 10th, plus random drawings for two sets of 2 tires, meaning 26 tires. Additionally, each SM Divisional Champion will receive 8 tires.

Looking down through the list of contengencies for 2012, I see Kumho, BF Goodrich, Goodyear, and Hoosier all with programs, but nothing from Toyo. I guess if they couldn't be the SM spec tire, they didn't want to do anything. At least that is the way it looks to me.

BTW, I have Shawn's GLD National trophy that I'll bring to one of the first races for him.

Jerry, thanks for snaging the trophy.

I am only worried about the SM contingency's since that is what we race. Sorry, could care less what GT1 or whoever else. Toyo treated SM pretty darn well all the years that they sponsored SM and I would have thought that Hoosier would have had to atleast match what Toyo was giving to get the SM sponsorship. :(

There is always NASA they have good Toyo contingencies. Personaly I like the Hoosiers better, would be nice to have a better payout but, if you go to low attendance Nationals, there is huge chances to win Hoosiers. And it is nice to know that we have a hoosier contingency for GL.

Way to go M&S and Kyle; now we're going to have every SM'er from the neighboring divisions coming to our National events for cheap points!

That could be nothing but a GREAT THING! Last year we had Steyn and Fowler drop by for some easy points :) I sure hope we will have some others come see us this year!

What do you expect from a Prod Driver who drives a car older than ours. How do you think I scored my National Points last year. Apparently not enough Westerners made the pilgrimage.

BTW, there is a small smoldering ember for the re-unification of Cen-Div and GLD. I really don't have an opinion one way or the other, so I'm not trying to stir the pot on that subject; just passing on the info.

I pulled out the forms to register for the GLD regional tire contingency. The form requires a receipt and I was wondering if we have to buy the tires from Midwest Hoosier or can we buy from any Dealer. The answer is you must buy your tires from Terry Gilvin at Hoosier Tire Midwest only, and save the receipt to get the tire contingency.

I was about to place an order with Terry for a SCCA National race I am planning to run at Road Atlanta in a few weeks becuase I expect the tires will not be spent and I wanted to use them for our Regional event. Terry cautioned me that I should not order tires when the temperature going to fall below freezing. The tires will crack if the freeze. He said the will be ok once they warm up on the track but before that you need to take precaution on letting them freeze.

As far as shipping goes you do not want them sitting in a truck someplace overnight if the temps are below freezing. So I am going to order I hope, next week when I see a 3 day window of above freezing temps.

Go GLD.
