I am suprised that more National drivers haven't complained about the PITIFULL contingencys that Hoosier is giving in comparison to what Toyo has in the past.
Three tires is what they give out per race, thats about 450.00 worth of tires. TOYO gave out awards to the 10th place and that amounted to 1450.00 in CASH..
Who in the heck negotiated that lame deal
Pat,
I'm not sure if you are refering to all National Classes, or just SM. From the SCCA website, Club Race Contengencies, Hoosier is offering 2 tires for 1st and 1 tire for 2nd place in all National races, so 3 tires, but in 28 classes. For SM, they are also offering 1 tire for 3rd thru 5th place at each National race, meaning 6 tires. If the National is one of the 12 Super Tour events, the payout is 4 tires for 1st, and 2 tires for 2nd thru 10th, plus random drawings for two sets of 2 tires, meaning 26 tires. Additionally, each SM Divisional Champion will receive 8 tires.
Looking down through the list of contengencies for 2012, I see Kumho, BF Goodrich, Goodyear, and Hoosier all with programs, but nothing from Toyo. I guess if they couldn't be the SM spec tire, they didn't want to do anything. At least that is the way it looks to me.
BTW, I have Shawn's GLD National trophy that I'll bring to one of the first races for him.
