Vegas can be fun but wondering if the Convention is worth the trip on its own?
Any product vendors or cars or stuff for sale? Is it mostly policy meeting and awards?
Thanks

I go every year. If you have a responsibility for your region it is worth the trip. There are virtually no exhibitors, vendors or any entertainment.
Hope this helps. If you want to know something specific, call me or email me offline.

As I suspected. Oh well, maybe I'll put on a "Pepboys" t-shirt and see if they will let me in to the SEMA show instead
Thanks

Or I guess what they say is true... "What happens in Vegas......".

Vegas is always fun. That's what we sell here, liquor 24/7, condoms, penicillin, Valtrex, Viagra, Cialis and if you have the right script you can see the herb doc. For reference from a locals view on what to do, check out what I do every year or so when the Superkarts USA Super Nationals come to town. This one is from last year. http://roaddog.com/r...ry/vegas-guide/ It's more for what to do for the 20-30 something crowd plus what's around the track for the racers.
I'll see what I can do to put a middle aged sports car racer slant to it, though I'd reckon most of you guys are tucking in around 9:00 pm after watching the evening farm report...
South Point is pretty good. Good to see the SCCA supporting racers like the Gaughans. It's down the Strip a piece, in fact that far south it's called Las Vegas Blvd. Nice property, good value. If you are into gaming some of the best odds in town. If you didn't know, NASCAR racer Brendan Gaughan's family owns it. They were formerly Orleans Racing before old man Gaughan (a fixture in the Vegas casino scene, known on Sirius Speedway as "Big Enos") sold his casinos to Boyd Entertainment. He bought South Coast from Boyd after a falling out after the sale and rebranded it South Point and turned it around. Off the beaten path but great service, great eats, excellent value. Plus it's not too far from Stoney's so you guys can ride the bull and listen to both kinds of music.

The SCCA National Convention is a great place to meet everyone involved with SCCA. All of the National staff including Jeff Dahnert, the SCCA CEO are there and easy to meet and ask any questions you might have. All of the Directors, the CRB, the Regional Executives and the principal Administrators of race specialties attend.
And I'll be there. I haven't missed a National Convention in 30 plus years. Las Vegas is the most fun place we've had National Conventions. It does move around. We've had them in Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Denver, San Antonio, El Paso, San Diego, Kansas City, Portland, Baltimore and on a cruise ship. Personally, I'd just as soon it stay in Vegas. Can you say great food.
And, of course, Drago will be there. If you come, I'm sure he'd buy you a drink. Just tell him I sent you.
