Johnny...hard to tell, but did he turn in on you in 11 or did you wash out a little? Like you did he drive the whole race? The 51 had you guys covered but as we found out it takes more than fast driving to win! Next time...and for you also! Good P2 finish!

I washed out to him and left a car width. I think the rule say I only needed to give him 3/4 :tipsy:
Yes the whole race. (I asked here)
Thanks 51 for being a PITA for me while I was racing for the lead
Yes there's a little more to enduros, thought you had that figured out after crewing on some 25 teams.
Thanks

2012 CCR - Appendix A - Figure 11. If you're saying you washed out, that implies you weren't in complete control of the car. Contact is your fault. If you just never turned in (Figure 12) and had complete control of your car, the it's the other driver's fault.

I'm not a huge fan of exactly how these particular scenarios are written, but we race under the rules we have, not the rules we wish we had. ;-)

One other thing - I don't think the #51 car did anything wrong in this video. Unless he was more laps down from the cars in front of him than there was time on the clock to make up, he had every right to race other cars in class hard. With 20 minutes left in an enduro, ANYTHING can happen. We had a 20 lap lead in an enduro at Thunderhill and lost a diff with 45 minutes left. Cars who were "out of it" were suddenly fighting for a podium spot.

Cheers,

Dean

I can look at the video again but I thought I left room, my line wasn't going out to the wall, your call Dean.
On 51 he was 7 down on us, your call too.
I just want to be clear on do's and don't.

I prob would of lost anyway, 51 was only 1 of many factors including myself.

My point on the first one is that even if you "leave room" but are out of control and make contact, then you are at fault. Think about it - if you didn't have to control your car, then every time someone got inside another car, the driver of the car being overtaken would have to go all the way around the outside of the turn in case the passing driver lost control and slid out from his intended line.

On the second one, being down 7 laps certainly puts them in the "let 'em race and stay out of it" category.

Cheers,

Dean

I can't watch the video at work but I will. I was thinking it was an racing incident. A dented fender.
Out of control..., well if your dancing, sliding, drifting, fighting for the lead coming off, I guess so.
My bad.

All true.

And just for completeness: A wise grasshopper will go out of his way to the outside of the turn if he sees tire smoke in his inside mirror to keep from getting damaged himself regardless of fault.

Doesn't look like he left you much room on turn in but I'm no expert.

We need to get you video for these races. I don't want to have to wake up early to crew for you and have you DQ'ed for something like that. :) I wonder if I can rig something up with my Contour...

Apologies for being really late to the party, but here's the video of my final stint in this enduro. This was after our enduro-novice 15 minute disaster pit stop ruined our race. But as you'll see here, there was still plenty of fun to be had on Hoosier slicks in the rain. Any time you can dice with a Porsche Cup car & other front runners in a Miata, you're having fun.
