As far as I know,Charlie is correct. It does not show on the Teen Mazda Challenge page that the nationals are eligible for Teen Challenge points. The designation probably appears because the driver noted he was a TMC driver when he registered.

The Mazda Driver Shootout is also open to teens, 13-19, that win SCCA national championships in a Mazda or Mazda powered car. Teen Challenge is NASA only. Nice program. I think it complements the Road to Indy program well. If they sold Road to Indy swag I'd buy some just to support the program. We need to get/keep kids in open wheel these days and it's a tough sell.

Dave,
Agree with you completely. Very difficult to make your way as a young open wheel driver. But we are trying. Nova wants to drive both platforms. We have a way for business owners to help actually. One that does not take money out of the businesses pocket, but puts money back into their business and helps a young driver realize his goal of being an Indy and Sports Car driver. If people are really interested in helping, and do own a business I can provide a mechanism to help. Might even help support their race program!

Just so everyone is clear we need to make sure that it is called Teen Mazda Challenge. NASA is the sanctioning body, not the sponsor. It was the brain child of Ron Cortez at AIM and he does it for the good of young drivers. It is also for 13 -22 year old drivers not just teens. 2 of the 3 finalist in the Mazdaspeed shootout came from this program last year. Elliott Skeer won it last year in the West. Nathaniel Sparks in the East. TEXAS and Florida now have a series also, although not enough competitors in the East.
A bunch of good young drivers have come out of this series already. Dean Copeland, Ryan Ellis both MX5 cup winners and grand am winners, Elliott Skeer won an MX5 cup race this year and Tyler Vance who won a NASA PT championship all come from this group.
Let's just make sure we call it right TEEN MAZDA CHALLENGE!

Also as an aside that is waaayyy off the current topic... J.Jordan has a few spaces open for transport form SoCal to Mid-Ohio. I'm not aware of the route they plan to take but there are a lot of SM's between San Diego and Mansfield, Ohio. Drop him an IM and get a space!
