Sunday's Group 5 Race at Roebling. I was driving an OPM Spec Miata in STL class against FP, EP and other higher HP cars and I got to lead a couple of laps because I remembered what Tom Fowler taught me about the flags in Drivers' School. Started P8, finished P3 overall, P1 in STL. Remember what the flags mean and what NO flags mean.

I don't know Tom as well as you guys, but that's all Tom, always 100% in the game. Was the tone on the radio mellow

At a drivers school a couple years ago, I was instructing (yes that is a scary thought) from a chase car. An ambulance had been sent on course, no incedent, just for a learning experience. Coming out of T5 at Blackhawk the entire field of students was lined up, single file behind the ambulance. I passed the entire student field and the ambulance by turn 6. They really got chewed out for that one!!!

Sometimes it is faster to be smart than powerfull.

Funny thing was that NOBODY followed me. Afterwards, many of them told me they were waiting to see if I got a black flag at T6. It was really weird being the only one racing. Most everyone else had many years of racing experience and I am just starting my second year so I figured I must have screwed up. To be honest, I felt better when I got to T6 and there was no black flag.
