Ok...I'll bite and be the Nor Cal homer Not sure if Buttonwillow holds a home field advantage for the So Cal guys but if the Nor Cal guys can come up to speed quickly and their cars can hold their own under power...Thomas and Vodden are hard to bet against. Loustaunau and Hayes are fast. Vance and Burgoon will hold home field advantage. Tyler did well last year up North in NASA...only saw Rob drive once In SCCA with ok results in a deep field(12th,15th)which included 2 of the drivers above who finished well ahead.!!! GREAT NEWS !!!
My "Podium +1" prediction:
- P1 - T. Vance
- P2 - R. Burgoon
- P3 - J. Florence
- P4 - D. Thomas
Go Nor Cal!!

It was nice to see a good size group of NorCal drivers come down and play, thanks for making the trip. Hopefully next year the Cal Crown race will be held at Thunderhill (really, I'm hoping but have no info or clue if that is the plan).
Scott Phillips was stupid fast all day Saturday rolling off P1 for the race. Rob Burgoon (P2) got a great start and took a small lead for most of the race. Scott got by for a few laps but gave it up a just before a full course yellow flew for a disabled car. With a two lap shoot-out looming the green flew but 4-wide into Sunset (T1) was a bit too much. Right behind the leaders a several cars tangled taking hard charging Tyler Vance & Charlie Hayes out of the mix for the podium. Rob held off Scott for the win, David Dodge rounded out the top three.
There was great racing throughout the field, but it could have been better with say a dozen more cars. Next year perhaps.
I'm confident that Brett Becker (SoCal SM group leader) will have an amazing race recap but I wanted just to suggest that it looks the Era of Burgoon may have begun in SoCal NASA (I hear he won Sunday too), but there are some kids in hot pursuit of him... Should be fun to watch unfold.
The July 28 & 29th So Cal event at Cal Speedway is gonna be a great one to attend, sign-up early. Lets try to get 25+ cars!

Sorry I couldn't make it down to help the NorCal boys carry the flag. Next year.
Cheers,

My post from the other thread:
"Won the race today, making it a SM sweep for the weekend and 3 wins and 1 2nd in the last 4 SM races for the Race Engineering powered purple car. Two 2nds in the 2 races before that. Shaping up to be a great season.
Alex Brauer finished 2nd today.
I also got to meet the famous Errol Tucker."
I'll have a race report up and video later this week. I might hold off on posting the Saturday video though. It might be best to just wait for the goracingtv coverage so I don't spoil it.
