I certainly agree about using the right tool. I know if I were designing a torque wrench, I'd design it so the reverse direction was usable for loosening. It appears that the HF wrench is indeed designed that way, which I discovered by accident. I s'pose others may be different. I know if my torque wrench ever clicked in reverse I wouldn't use it for loosening, so there's agreement here.

Mine (HF) don't even click when used in "reverse" -- they're breaker-bar solid. Try yours and report back.
I broke one on my right front hub nut. That's when I switched to lifetime warranty breaker bars plus jack handle.
