NARRC off at LRP - Tires?

Just registered for the NARRC-off, and noticed something in the supps regarding tires. See the below copied from the supps:
All NARRC classes will be recognized. Rules for NARRC Classes may be obtained from the NARRC web site at http://www.narrc.com/rules.html. SM, SM5, SSM and SM2 cars must use the NEDIV approved Toyo tires, RA1 or R888 of proper size. SSM and SM2 rules are available from the NARRC website. SM5 (Spec MX-5) rules are as stated in the GCR. Note: All Rules and Specifications that are referenced to a website, or other means, in these Supplementary Regulations shall be those Rules and Specifications in effect at the time entries are accepted.
This seems to imply we need to run Toyos.
But from the actual NARRC rulues:
SM2 is an NERRC/NARRC regional-only class for all 1990 through 1997 Mazda Miatas that comply with SCCA GCR and category specifications for Spec Miata (SM). The SM2 tire rule is the same tire as listed in the GCR (with any amendments in Fastrack) for the Spec Miata National race class, additionally for 2012, both Toyo RA1s and R888 tires are permitted.
So.......................
I just emailed the contact from motorsports reg to see what's going on, but does anyone know something I don't know?

I don't think the new Toyo is legal per the SCCA rules yet. Actually since the new national tire is hoosier, it will be interesting to see what regional supps say for next year. If they allow toyos I'll probably give these a try, or just use them for NASA races.

If it is an open tire rule, then it would be allowed...no?

NARRC rules have a specific tire set for SM & SM2. Also, WDC SSM rules have a specific tire set.
Generally speaking, SCCA regional races are "open tire", but there are subsets to the rules. Also sometimes the supps will spec a tire for SM. That's why a lot of the regional guys just run the national tire.
ITA has always been open tire. Pardon the pun, but this new tire may gain some traction with that crew for sure if it's as grippy as the hoosier but lasts longer. Is toyo going to make this in all sorts of sizes, or just 205/50/15?
