IMO--Plates and weights should be checked by the whole field at least one time over the weekend and by at least 50% of the field twice. I had to race from the back of the field after a first lap spin and some of the cars were very fast for their positions.
The dyno thing might work at large events, but it is very beatable--thus I think in general a waste...
Mike, I have some ideas about how we could do this in a way that is not burdensome but we need SM guys in each region to push it with there club. I am going to make an effort through the GLD regional race committee to require it to have the race count for points, but it comes down to the fact that they do not have enough volunteers, in tech, who know anything about SM. So we could put together a two page tech guide for each model year, that spells out what to look for, Plate, if they have one, what size and color, and even a picture of where the plate is, and a go/no go tool to check the plate. A list of what should be checked and how to do it.
You need at least one volunteer from the SM group to oversee it. if we want this done we have to come up with a system to do it and provide the manpower, With so many classes in SCCA there is no way they can be up on it like we are.
BTW i was totally impressed with your driving this weekend I was watching each lap on race monitor and saw you get dumped early on race 4 only to come back to the the front, good job dude, and a big congrats to the wife to hang in there and do as well as she did on a track that takes some stones to drive. Good Weekend for the Novak's
I emailed some feedback to the NeOhio board about the event and I brought up the lack of tech so hopefully next year any NeOhio events will include tech such as weighing, check plates, maybe shocks etc. Plus talking to a couple of the board members to get them on my side of things. I may even have to run for board this winter
AJ i would encourage you to do that, we need people to get involved if we want to step out our game, and its not that big of a commitment. This is our club and its what we make of it.
