I hope you don't mind me posting here, but I wanted to get the word out to the west coast Miata racers.

I had the hard top stolen off my Miata street car last night. If anyone happens to stumble across my top please message me.

It is montego blue and has scuff marks in the head lining where the roll bar rubs, has the stock side latches missing (was bolted in) and the heated window wire is cut.

Thanks,
Simon Whitworth.

where was it stolen from?

It was parked on the street outside my house, the scum bags must have come in the middle of the night.

San Jose, between Cambrian and Almaden area.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that. Keep an eye on Craigslist.

On a side note, is it just me or has there been a lot of Cali racers losing stuff to thieves this past year? Cars, enclosed trailers, wheels, and now this. WTF?

Anyway, I hope you can get it back. Thieves suck.

I see at least 1 or 2 ads a month on CL In the Bay area warning of a stolen hardtop...asking people to keep an eye out! I'm sure these head out of state or right onto someones car. Mark your tops!! Maybe even a cheap locator...but at the least bolt them!

Sorry Wormie...will keep my eyes open. Post on NCR also.

My condolences, the Marinier blue hardtop off of my car and the Crystal White hardtop off of a friend's car were both stolen the weekend of the 19th/20th here in the Seattle area. IMHO this isn't going to stop until the Miata community bands together and stops purchasing any tops of dubious origin as obviously there is a gang of thieves dealing in these things. However if no one is willing to buy them then it will stop so please make sure that the seller's story makes sense before buying any hardtop!

Sorry if this partially double posted. Reply disappeared before I was done typing.

May be legit but there is a red Miata in the background in the first ad that has similar wheels and all to the Miata in the second ad.
Both ads reference $600 with a trade and prefers to meet up. Plenty of time to have painted or one of many more. Maybe nothing but worth looking into.

My bad. First ad doesn't say anything about meeting up. I guess I'll turn in my investigators badge. But before I do I did notice an unusual number of ads throughout Washington wanting to purchase a hardtop. Perhaps that's how the tops are being located and cased.
