Ken, a friend of mine has a 4-post lift that I think has wide enough tracks to accept your leveling pads. He's a Porsche guy and has mentioned the idea of doing his own alignments to me before. He probably wouldn't mind setting up there on random weekends. A little inconvenient, but it would be nice to stand up under there when doing the job wouldn't it. Something to think about...

2-3 foot tall free standing stands is looking for trouble. < As pleasant as I could say it.
I also have seen folks show their 10 inch tall platforms with no wheel stops. Build the wheel stops into the stands or something bad will find you.
