I have a VS Road Race Halo (but, I'm a normal 6' guy).   I like it, but I've never tested it.  They guys at Ultrashield are great.  They are in Tyler, TX....a few hours north of you.  I drove over there for my seats and actually sat in several different seats to choose which one I wanted.

I also like the PF97 pads.  The wear is pretty gentle on the rotors.  I find that I get about 2 sets of pads per set of rotors.  I like the decent initial bite, and easy modulation of the PF97 pads.   I would recommend picking a pad and staying with it for your first year or two as you develop as a driver.  Just getting used to the braking characteristics of a single pad is enough as you are learing to drive.  Don't experiement with other pads, until everything else is consistent.

I am 6'3" 205 and have an OMP WRC seat (regular not xl) and it just fits in the car and the cage and me.  I modifed the seat mount brackets to drop it a little and recline (really easy). I run without the seat pad, but in a 20-60 min race you never notice - the seat is well shaped.

I also like the PF97 pads.

I tried PFCs (used them for 10+ years on my M3), but they kept binding and bending the backing plates causing the pad material to crack . (This was after calling PFC and getting their recommendation to run without the clips.) So do you use the caliper clips with yours and I assume no issues? (Switching to Carbotechs with clips and I had zero issues. Haven't tried PFCs (in the front I have 08's in the rear w/ clips, no issues) in the front again with clips because I'm still waiting for pads they promised me from April. :noidea:

I have not had any issues with them binding and bending.  I do run clipless (rattle, rattle).

The only issue I've had is just the usual stupid mistake during reassembly: forgetting to check the pad/tab alignment as I reseat the calipers.  The tab gets hung between the caliper braket and body, and the piston bends the backing plate that way.

I have NOT had it happen "inexplicably" after coming off the track.

I will swap the Hawks out for PF pads.

I did the power steering removal and conversion but one of the plugs I got from Advanced Autosports was too small to fit in the rack.

I will call A-A tomorrow and get the right plug and swap out he pads.

BTW the A/C Compressor looks almost new. The rest of the A/C parts look new as well. Anyone want to trade the AC and PS pump and reservoir for a hard top?

Yeah good luck with that

I think I am going to end up scrapping both systems from mine, and maybe even the 1.6 open diff too. No one seems to want that stuff!!

Since you're wrenching in there I'll give you a little tip; I had both: de-powered, and true manual rack.  Manual rack is better for me,  which could be a personal preference, but there is a hidden value in the manual rack.  It weights less than a de-powered rack.

I will swap the Hawks out for PF pads.

You will need to wash your wheels regardless of pad type.

For me it was dynamic. I'd made it through entire race weekends.  Even a 3hr enduro without an issue, but doing my post session check, I'd just randomly find one bent with the pad material cracked/missing.  Always on the fronts, but not always the same caliper.  I've probably done 50+ sessions on the same calipers with Carbotechs and zero issues.  (Though running with clips, which I replace regularly with Raybestos kits from Rockauto.)
