was forced off course to avoid contact
If you don't buy the "my corner" argument, then would you support the notion that the Audi driver also had the option of not attempting to pass in the kink?
Mr. Hand definitely got boned.

We were in the stands outside road course Turn 1 for the last few hours. In our pool, I had the Audi and my brother had the Ferrari so we were watching those two over the last 30-45 minutes very closely. Prior to the yellow, the Audi was closing slightly on the Ferrari but would make up all/most of its time anywhere under 120, but the Ferrari still had top end before the Bus Stop and into the Tri-Oval, even with the draft.
Post yellow, the Ferrari turned up the wick/concentration and had he not blown Bus Stop a lap or two before the finish, it looked like he'd checked out. At the finish, the DTM/factory driver was in the Audi so we joked that he didn't feel really comfortable in the car until he found himself in the grass after the kink.
Speaking of Fox, how many times did they run a couple of minutes of commercials, come back to coverage for about :60, and then go to another big block of commercials? Thanks to the DVR I was able to watch without going insane.

It's done to fool your DVR oerating on the "skip commercials" playback mode. Lot of broadcasters are now playig that game. Can't really blame them...

My gripe was the absurd NASCAR yellow at 21:20 ish to go. The Porsche who brought it out by hitting the tire wall immediately backed out and drove to the pits under power. That cal was ludicrous and IMHO was created to force a exciting fininsh.

Between the commercial time being equal to the broadcast time and the silly yellow flag call at the end (among other things) you sure can see nascar's heavy hand in this new series, even worse than past couple years in grand-am. After watching the last two hours of the race i quickly came to the conclusion, that the only way these races will be watchable is on imsa.com in replay.
Bogus yellow, obscene commercial spacing, and a ridiculous ruling (then overturned) on the Audi/Ferrari - Not sports car racing's finest hour - as it pertains to the TV coverage and to NASCAR's heavy hand. As to the racing itself, excellent, in spite of the coverage.
Sweet. Just got our renewal package from Daytona and reserved our tickets and campground again for 2015.
