A lot of players, some notable southeast folks are missing at this time. Looking forward to meeting a couple first timer Buckeyes at Road America.

Also looking forward to national competition coming to town. Personally can't wait for my sophomore year of June Sprints.  Anticipation feels like Christmas in June. Trying to stay unintimidated as the numbers grow. Should be a good show and looking forward to meeting a few more people.  Safe travels all.  I'll bring the beer for when the motors stop firing.

I mentioned this to someone else before Mid Ohio!  We are all amatuers, if we were 1/2 as good as we think we are someone would be paying us to drive for them rather than spending way too much money to drive Miatas :0 No reason to be intimidated by anyone driving a miata

 

Plan on racing the 00 at the Sprints, will likely test the 03 car though and get some data for myself and for the SMAC/CRB. I have a feeling it may do better than most think at long tracks.

Amazing that the Mid Ohio thread got to 8 pages, yet the biggest race in the country has only a handful of posts.

 

I hope everyone has a great time at the Advanced Autosports-Winding Road Challenge at the June Sprints.

 

Make sure to get your drivers envelope at registration and put your contingency stickers on the car.

 

Advanced Autosports will have 14 cars in 3 classes-SM, STL and T4. Visit our paddock area in the Lester building (former Mazda tent for the Runoffs) near turn 14.

Just looking at the overall entries of 296 cars.

 

54 are Spec Miatas

38 are SRF

24 are STL (of which 22 are Miatas)

 

The only classes in the double digit entries are F5 (18 cars) Gt1 and FF each with 14 cars.

 

Great showing for our class and our sister class (STL) and especially for Mazda.

I can tell you who will not win, podium or top 5 or 10, Me.  I have never been to this track other that to watch. My goal is learn the track and bring my car home. Of course, i also plan on going and drinking Tom Browns beer. Try to keep Drago and Stearn's from Hanging crap on my car, and Likely help Novak inventory all the tires he is bringing.

Frank, there are two pieces of info you need to know about the Kink, there are those that have crashed there and there are those that will. One thing about Down Town Tommy Brown's beer is that his source, taverns never run out.

The depth of talent looks to make this race a tough one for everyone. I see about 15-20 names that could end up fighting for a podium spot. Mr. Berry has a bone to pick after getting robbed at the runoffs so my money is on him for the win.

Personally, I hope to break into the top 20. After hitting the dyno this week, I was a little disappointed so I will be struggling for speed. After the cancellation of the local race this weekend, I decided to do the test day and get some extra practice in. Hoping to make some friends to before qualifying as I quickly learned how important they are for a fast time at the runoffs last year.

We plan to show up Wednesday night. Does anyone know if/when they close the gates for entry with a motor home and trailer?

David, call the track for your best info on closed gate for the evening. If you arrive late, they'll direct you I believe inside the first gate and to your right towards T12 outside the track for the evening. Meaning you will not be allowed through the tunnel.

Hard to beat Road America in the summer! These big events, Sebring, Rd Atl, and The Sprints are by far my favorite! All 3 feel like The Runoffs. Looking very forward to seeing everyone, and hope all have a good, safe race.

Viewing the satelite view T14 is in the upper righthand corner. As the track leaves T14 and before the track starts up hill you'll see on the map the the track racing surface travels straight and there is a smaller width exit at the start of the grass between the track and smaller exit (yellow line on map #1)which travels (off track) to the hot pits. As the grass ends you'll see a bridge over the exit and over the track. You can't see it in the picture but there is a concrete wall seperating the hot pits from the track surface. At about the same location as the bridge, left of the bridge you'll see a road on the left hand side with a diagonal at the right end. At the end of that diagonal is the pregrid. Your leader padocks someplace between the restrooms and the tech center in the brown area (asphalt) of map #1.  Many of the Spec Miata folks padock near the Lester carport/Mazda tent inside T14,  including Fowler, Wheeler, Lamb, Collins if he's around and normally my pal Loshak with his newest Honda H prod car, If he gets it finished.
