How have the Springfield Dyno radiators been lately?

Do you mount it with the stock rubber grommets (or equivalent) at the top or just bolt it in? Exactly what do you run for coolant?

The last one was a v2, so it's mounted with the rubber grommets top and bottom.  I also use rubber tape on the core support so the radiator is completely isolated.  Trimmed the fan shroud on the back to make sure it's clear of the radiator, and only ever run with distilled water and water wetter.  Tested for type A and B electrolysis after install and it checked out.

 

Radiator started leaking from the very top corner (drivers side front).  Lasted 9 race weekends.

I never had the problems others have described with the SD rads. I developed mine because I wanted something that I could control. Plus, I know somebody in the custom rad business.

 

For this weekend at Road America, I had the OBD2 temp sensor for the back of the cylinder head monitored into the AIM on Voyteks car. We also had the regular AIM water temp prob in the lower radiator hose. This gives you the hottest point and the coldest point on the car. When leading we would see 190-195 at the head and 140 at the radiator. When following it would run 205-210 at the head and about 150 at the radiator. The track sign said 94* when I left the track. I would say actual temp was in the 87* range. This is with no thermostat. In the morning we did run a stat as the head was running around 170 in the cooler air.
