Jeff usually the test day is run by WGI....you just get there and register at the track where registration usually is.

Black SM/SM2/"Slap Bracelet Throwback" #12 in the Northeast....if the car was made in the early 90's it should look like it.
1.6L forever! Bring on your '99's and '01's!
35 SM's on Saturday...nothing to sneeze at! Odd that I don't see the OP, though.
...and hopefully staying dry...
Not Saturday.
Watkins Glen is such a great track. This weekend was my first time driving at Watkins Glen and I had a blast. A big thanks to the flatout motorsports guys for again giving me a great car. Their rentals are top notch and you always know that the car you in is good enough to get you to the front.
I arrived saturday morning without a single lap under my belt and managed to put the car P4 after a rainy qualifying. Unfortunately the track dried out for the afternoon race. Sitting on the grid in fourth place knowing that I had never turned a single dry lap was a bit unnerving, but I managed to stay out of everyone's way and finished 12th or so.
I thought I wasn't going to like the short course but it was a blast. So many fast fast turns. Crazy to think that turn 1 is the slowest turn on the short course. Unfortunately I was hit pretty hard from behind going into the inner loop on lap one and my race was ended early because of a bent right rear. Not the way I wanted to end the weekend but it was still a great time. I always love jumping into a miata whenever I get the chance. Hope to see you guys out there again sometime.
Video of the Sunday short course start and my incident
Yeah, the weekend didn't end so great for me, either.
Sort of a strange race. My objective was to be able to bring the car home in one piece as my last two visits here were total wrecks and included a compression fracture. This was still in my head so I was being more than cautious and frankly ran slow even for me.
This group (mid pak) seemed overly aggressive with lots of ill advised passing attempts. First lap of Sunday's race in front of me they were 4 wide going into bus stop resulting in inevitable contact and sending cars off in every direction. One re-entered the track and tagged my nose but I managed to save it. I was tagged twice on rear bumper in the bus stop and have donuts on both doors. I was more concerned with saving the car rather than holding position so I routinely yielded but had to do it often. I ran a few cars back down and was going more for open track passing down front and back straights. Some drivers adjusted their line several times to keep me back there.
Paul, I have no one to blame but myself. I clipped the inside corner at turn 1, and tried correcting the oversteer. The car shot to the left and my foot hit the accelerator when I hit the outside curb. I couldn't brake enough and steer out of it to avoid the armco.
Here's the video...
Ouch. Every time I got down to the apex in turn one I thought about how terrible it would be to hit the fat part of the curb. Guess that's evidence of how bad it could end up.
Wow Domm, that was a pretty good shot. Glad to see you're ok although the car looks like it may be done.
