Ok so we will have a good few people to get together. I am going to spend some time before then making sure I get a better handle on understanding the SCCA process for rule changes - so that I can comment from a position of legislative accuracy.
MPR, if your motor is as big as your mouth I'm sure you will do fine on Sunday
CNJ
Miss you too Craig. Don't need a big motor a stock one will do.

I am confused??? ross was selling all spec miatas and retiring? Now he is racing with a 12k$$$ engine?
Not sure I understand Ross, does he have multiple personality disorder???
We will all be runnign stock POS engines vs. some that are willing to spend 12K alegedly. seems like very good parity.

To bump this thread. If more are available for a Saturday lunchtime "drivers meeting" in the pavilion at noon perhaps we do that. Let's try and settle on a time when we grid up for qualifying.
Also- for those reading who will be there- this meeting is NOT just for guys who run up front (I'm certainly not one) or happen to have an x-factor motor (I don't in my 01). Even if you don't care or don't know please drop in.

Ross will be running an untouched head with only a valve job. Aka the same car and motor I won with last weekend
Good, so if you were able to win with it, then Mikey will have no excuses for not winning.
To Matts suggestion for meeting time, I suggest that we get together in the pavilion before lunch to chat amongst ourselves - before meeting with Dan at say noon. Any later and we will push into our race start. We are group 2 and so should be clear by 10.30am latest. So 11.00? Later?

This may be the last chance for me to race at TWS, ever. The rules haven't changed yet. I will get to speak directly to a BOD member.
Cars are always for sale. If SCCA moves forward without direct member input I will retire from SM. I will win Sundays race.

I'll be there with my tired-ass, 112,000 mile original 1.6 from the back (probably literally the very back) of the pack.
No tech worries for me! I'd never sniff a national anyway.

You could be the last SM winner at TWS in history... others may challenge for that title however.

Yep that makes sense. Hold the only Majors race in Texas at a small track with no facilities, again. How in the world is the Majors not at TWS? Nobody from out of conference is coming to Texas to race any tracks except TWS or COTA.

I'm sure people are looking at IndyCar running NOLA and thinking it'll be fine for a club race, even a major. Perhaps the facilities have gotten better since last year? I've never been so I can't comment.
I'm not sure why it's not at COTA. I understand it's more expensive (greatly so), but it's THE bucket list track around here. Did someone screw something up horribly last year for SCCA not to be invited back? Are they trying to bend club racers over? Wouldn't surprise me- the general consensus was that if you have a Ferrari or McLaren you're more than welcome, but if not tough luck. I have seen a few more DE groups get out there late this year and heard rumors that PCA and BMWCCA run up there regularly- why not SCCA and NASA?

I agree. Not sure what they were up against but it would be so awesome to have a majors at TWS in its last year. I think we could easily have a 50-60 car turnout in SM.
I will be driving up for the meeting. Should be there at 11:00.

I think the reason COTA is out is costs. It is much more to race there.
But, I would pay $1000 entry to race there easily compared to paying $600 to race at Eagle Canyon where they held a Major last year. (Really what's $400 or $500 more in the big picture racing budget.... not much) I didn't even go to the EC Majors because that facility is terrible. Nice little driving track sure, but not Majors caliber.

Nothing wrong with NOLA at all. It creates good tight racing, Facilities are superior to most Texas tracks. COTA is a pain in the ass to deal with and scheduling is/will be a night mare. Other groups run COTA all the time, not sure they want 700 cars with rigs showing up again.
TWS works and it will challenge anyone that comes to the track. IMHO it is still the toughest track to "master" in the SOWDiv. I have well over a 1,000 laps there and I still learn something new every time.

James, you would, as would I. But, are there 230 other racers who would, which would JUST cover the cost of racing there? Remember how many people bitched about $650? I sure do.
We 3 racing regions aren't excited about going broke to host a race there. The only date we've been offered is not ideal. Discussions continue.

I don't know if enough would attend. I can't say. I am sure it would draw a somewhat larger out of conference attendance then EC, but how much I can't say.
But as Taylor suggest, TWS is also a very good location for a Majors.
I understand your job is not easy.
