Hey Guys, I am wanting to build or buy a fully done up ITA motor. I am sick and tired of catching the same guys in the next set of corners and then just watch them walk away from me. Especially the ISC guys. I have a tired 1.8L motor in my 1994 Miata now and I need something with a little more kick to it. The motor I have is also completely stock at the moment. I'm either looking to buy a used 1.8L or have one built. I have reached out to Mesa Balancing in Miami, but don't know their labor rates and machining costs. I've tried to get back with them but apparently they don't want my money (go figure  .) So now I am looking to see what I can find as far as motors or if anyone can give me rough estimates on what I could expect for machining (and I know prices will vary.) Just any help in this department would be greatly appreciated!

Should be about the same as a SM motor. You can over bore, and port match in IT but no plunge cut. I am sure any SM engine builder would be happy to take your money.

Machining costs are roughly the same but remember you will need to add for port matching and a compression bump (.5) to max out your build. Parts add a ton. Mazda's .020 over pistons are cheap but .040's aren't. Lot's of power to be had in a real intake/exhaust and programmable ECU combo with major dyno time. OTS stuff doesn't make the power you want. Careful design and trial and error are needed.
