Don't rule out the track just yet. While it is true that the Miller group is no longer going to be running the facility, a group of us who have team garages and/or businesses based on the track met with Tooele County commissioner Sean Milne yesterday and are optimistic that that track will continue to run and NASA will have a full 2016 season. Clearly there is still much work to be done, and many questions to be answered, but I left the meeting feeling positive.

Well it is official. The track has been purchased and will continue operations:

I had prior engagements so didn't attend the meeting tonight, but from what I hear Alan Wilson (the person who designed the track and has ties to the new owners) will be managing the facility. Looks like we'll have a 2016 season and more to come (knock on wood).

For those interested, the season has been going really well for local NASA racing (we've had record attendance if I'm not mistaken) PWC and other pro racing has been a success and it looks like UMC has pretty big plans for the future of the track. So knock on wood, racing is and will still be healthy in Utah.

They have the Lucas Oil Off Road Truck Series next to the track in the dirt too.

Yep, and there is a kart track where they held Nationals and it's also used along with a dirt track for Supermoto. NASCAR (Pro Series West) runs here once a year and MotoAmerica as well. Motorcycle racing is actually pretty large here. I had no idea. I'd imagine that Supercross will be back once they move the track. I'm really happy they are doing that as the motox track kinda ruined visibility on the East track and made the armco barrier much closer on the fastest corner on the track.

That's really good news. I enjoyed the time I spent up there
We'd love to have you back. Hopefully we can secure the NASA National Championship for one of the upcoming years. It'd knock off a bunch of towing time for those from the Midwest and East.
I still remember you running around and fixing wrecked cars for whoever needed it to get them back on track, and of course helping me with my engine woes and you didn't know me from a hill of beans. You're truly one of the good guys!

I visited UMC for the first time a few weeks ago as I was coaching at the PWC event. I can't say enough nice things about the people and the facility they have there. I want to drive that track, all of the videos look fantastic. The attitudes kind of remind me of my favorite complex of corners - Turns 8/9 at Texas World Speedway.
I look forward to going back there for years to come.
