It has not been decided if there are enough tires left from contingency to do the give away as they have done in the past. If they do, it has always been based on who signed up first.. If you are going to attend, it makes sense to sign up early.

Is the Hoosier contingency the same as always?

 

Contingency Hoosier for 2015 1st = 16 tires, 2nd = 8 tires, 3rd = 6 tires and through 10th = a total of 48 tires.

So it appears they have taken several car numbers off the list, I assume for those that paid the big fee to have it for Majors.  When will they release those numbers?  It didn't give an option of a back up number.

 I believe those are reserved for people who ran last year( not 100%) Not sure when they come off though?

Now add the cost of towing my car to and from Daytona, at 1942 milesround trip at the approved IRS allowance of $0.575 or $1,116.65 and it is a $1,411.65 two day test session.

I live about 900 miles from Daytona. Conservative estimate 75 gals of fuel (12 mpg) X $3.00/gal = $225 or $450 round trip.

Still a bargain compared to the $2,000 per session wind tunnel testing necessary for a "full prep" SM.

Because I have a waterfront paddock space and may launch the dingy so I can fish while I avoid making the unnecessary changes to my car that everyone else does when they have too much time on their hands...
