Hay everyone, I haven't been around much this year.  We only ran a few races, Joey has been helping other Teen Mazda Challenge Kids with Coaching and setup.

 

We were very excited to have this opportunity to run a "pro race"  at an entry level in Pirelli World Challenge.  Joey enjoyed the car and the nuances to driving a low horsepower front wheel drive vehicle.   We missed the first race on Friday as we broke an axle, We think when we tried a practice standing start....

 

We scoured Utah to find an axle on Friday to no avail and tried a Fiesta axle but it wouldn't work.  We found another axle that had a bad innver cv (we broke the outer) in Portland!  Derek Ambrose from Corksport ran it to the airport to ship it to us counter to counter. but none of us had an account for shipping domestically with Delta so we couldn't ship it.  (We were prepared to miss the first Saturday race...we did order one overnight from mazda saturday delivery but it wasn't schedule to arrive until after race 2 on the weekend)   then Derek called and said he an a buddy would drive 10 hours with the part to try and make it for the 830 race.   He arrived at the track at 810  we had to take 2 axles and make 1.  It was built on the back of a golf cart thrown in the car.  Joey made it to pit lane as the cars were about to do the standing start.  He left from the pitlane was behind the field about 5 seconds...It took him until turn 5 to turn off the traction control  LOL....  He ended up really flying and earned the fastest race lap which put him on the pole for the last race.

 

He also got the Hard Charger award and the Invisible glass pass of the race.....  

 

Anyway it was a crazy but fun weekend and great experience.....  On to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca!

It was very cool watching Joey win the final race on Saturday. I sat at the shop with cricket watching and cheering for him!! Very proud of the entire crew and driver!!

Huge congrats to Joey and the entire Jordan family as well as all who worked together to make this happen. I once had an engine lay down at a track and Mike Rossini had a driver drive 12 straight hours overnight with a Miata engine in the back of his street Miata so I could race the next day (apparently his lights were shining in the trees with all that weight in the trunk). These never-give-up stories all give us hope, and I love the fact that it worked out for you in the end - makes all that hard work and sacrifice so much more meaningful.

We had an amazing weekend @ Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca!   Thanks to CorkSport, Mumford Brewing and Minx Nails!

 

Shows how spec miata racers can drive anything!  Also At least 3 other Miata racers and Teen Mazda Challenge racers all won races this weekend!  

 

They kept adding rewards weight until we were maxed out at 119, but we were able to win all three rounds!  Shows how spec miata racers can drive anything!

The final race and the recap of the first two air on CBS Sports Network Wednesday, September 23, at 10 p.m. Eastern .
