That's not the site for NASA...it is predominately SCCA with some vintage thrown in.
I'm racing a F prod Miata now and while granted sometimes getting large F prod car counts is a challenge, don't forget we race with E and H prod along with GTL.
Winning your class is always the goal but racing for the overall especially with cars somewhat faster (ie:E prod and GTL) is also a hoot. These combined classes generally add up to more than 20 at majors...not all that bad.
Also if you had a chance to see, the F and H prod races at Daytona were arguably right behind the SM race in terms of excitement and drama.
You SM guys put on a hell of a show at Daytona and as I came to learn while driving in SM have my upmost respect.

I beg to differ with you as well You should read what I posted. I said tech found Zero in post race tech inspections. Which is 100% accurate, I never mentioned compliant/non compliant, nor did I assert it. You added that all on your own. What they found was after the technical inspection was completed and dealing with the protests. I know the way it went down, unfortunately I was there and involved.
Beg all you want - your understanding of how the procedure is handled is entirely incorrect. I don't like leaving others on the Internet "more dumb" by reading (or rereading by your own recommendation) incorrect information.
Tech has a predetermined list of items to be reviewed for compliance. At the 2014 Runoffs those items were not associated with the specifics associated with the head machining.
Thus the top 3/4/whatever finishers after being reviewed in Tech were found to be compliant and provisionally awarded their finishing positions outstanding the previously filed protests.
Upon analysis of the protests these finishers were found non-compliant and their finishing positions revoked. On to the next finishers - Oops! They were protested as well.
Now it becomes a case of finding someone who was neither protested nor finished within the "Top X positions to Impound" to determine a winner.
Your interpretation of these processes is not what's actually done and I'd hate for folks to get the wrong impression of someone who's a double SM champion.

yeah, me either.. Saw little to no difference in any of the posts... All were basically correct IMO.Hmmm...I dont see the difference between what you posted here and what Jim wrote?? The point of my post was simply to point out that our competitors know the class far better than tech ever will, not do start a step by step account of what transpired at last years Runoffs. I think we all know the end results of that by now. Despite what anyone posts or believes, had there not been a protest at last years Runoffs, the finishing order would not have changed and no cars would have been dq'ed. That is a fact.

My bad - I misread (or misinterpreted) what you wrote and put the second to last & last sentences as being associated and/or an extension of each other.
I didn't get from your post the fact there have been zero issues post 2014 runoffs (of the protested issues) and the "1 of 16" relief cuts being non-compliant earlier this year.
Again - sorry for the begging on both sides.

Than the tech inspectors when it comes
To the latest grey area, what if the competitors choose?
At runoffs registration, hand out a tech survey with 20 specific items to tech plus one write in. Driver fills out survey and turns in by the end of the second day of qual. Surveys are tallied and the top 5 most popular items get teched. Post race tech, by the people, for the people. It shouldn't be up to racers to drop fat stacks of cash to make sure the right things Get looked at. I'm sure the inspectors would enjoy a simpler process as well. Just a thought.
