My car got moved to e1 this year from e2. It was competitive in e2 won't be close in e1. That's why its not being put back together for the race.
What car were you running in E2?
Same thing happened to my car. They bumped our s2000 to E1 against the Elgin guys. We enjoyed the great E2 class last year and it seems now the class has been dissolved between E3 and some pushed to E1. It's a shame. Last years E2 race was freakin awesome. There were something like 12+ entries. We were 2 seconds off the leaders I think, but we were all battling in the long run so we didn't care.
We're trying to see if we can get down to the new E2 trim this week. Not interested in running E1. The organizers have a tough job no doubt. I've been on rules committees for other clubs. I know exactly what it takes to make things competitive and keep guys happy. I was about to write to Terry about it, but then I just thought - you know what… we'll just do our best with the new rules and not give him any grief. There are a lot of other great things about this race in the rules package - no minimum stop times, open refueling, easy fuel cell capacity limit, 5 hours of night racing...
That being said, 5 classes is just too many for 40-60 entries, especially now with the race getting divided into a 7 hr and a 12 hr. It seems they want to protect the SCCA classes from being beaten by the other orgs classes. As Todd says… this is an SCCA race.
