Bumpstop/tophat question

In swapping over to a new set of shocks (go me), I noticed the FCM bumpstops were pretty haggard and the nut & tophat on a couple of corners had worn quite a bit.

 

Are these things usually something to be replaced on an annual/biennial basis?  I think mine have been together since 2012 so they've had four years of use.

 

Regardless, if the tophat hole isn't round anymore, what's the risk?  And I can imagine what would happen if the nut were to be worn through...

I asked the same question a couple of months ago...the responses were that it didn't matter.  I'm not saying that's correct, but I re-used mine.
