Just finalized my order with Long Road. Looking for feedback on paint colour for the roll cage. I was originally thinking Black, but think it may get too hot on warm, sunny days.  I see Winding Road's cars seem to have a dark grey that looks good, too.

Any insight? Thanks.

I had all of mine done in white... black is hard to see leaks or defects.

Color vs. colour

Color and colour are different spellings of the same word. Color is the preferred spelling in American English, and colour is preferred in all other main varieties of English. The distinction extends to all derivatives of the word. Colored, coloring, colorer, colorful, and discolor are the U.S. spellings, and coloured, colouring, colourer, colourful, and discolour are preferred outside the U.S.

History

Both spellings are many centuries old. Color, now regarded as the American spelling, in fact predates the United States by several centuries. In early use the spellings vied for ascendancy with several other spellings. Colur, culoure, and coolor, for instance, were all in the mix before the modern British spelling gained permanent prevalence in the 17th century.1 The American preference for color took hold in the middle 19th century thanks in large part to the conscious simplification of English spellings by people such as the lexicographer Noah Webster.

we prefer grey in our SM builds.  White is awesome when new, will show leaks and issues the quickest but will need to be kept up on.  do not like black.  too dark, too hot, etc, etc.

grey/white goes with any combo outside.

I like black for the cage.  White or gray / grey for the rest of the interior.

The black bars seem to fade away and not be as noticeable to my eyes so it becomes something my eyes ignore.  When I've sat in cars with non-black cage tubes, I notice that my eyes try to focus on the bars when I see them in rear view mirror.  Light colored down tubes framing the windshield are also distracting to my eyes and seem to reflect sunlight a bit.

I also use black on the parcel shelf to eliminate any reflection in the rear window when looking out the mirror.

It's kinda wierd but my eyes just don't notice much detail on black objects.

YMMV

IMO, purely from a video playback perspective, is that black cages work best. The black cage disappears into the shadow and is not a distraction when viewing your race video.

^ Which brings up a good question. Do all cages painted the same color as inside the car become hidden/disappear? Mine is red/red, have never noticed cage while driving.

Justin, not so fast, but looks COOL, IMHJ.
