My hope is that the Runoffs moves around to premiere/bucket list tracks...i.e. ones with professional racing heritage.  While there are some beautiful new club tracks out there, I hope the Runoffs stays at tracks that host professional events.  I don't know why, but that makes sense to me.  Thankfully VIR has IMSA!  By 2020, I think it might be time to get back to Road America...that's assuming they can't find a way to make Watkins Glen work out.

I have not driven Barber, but i want to and I have heard good things about that place. Anyone who has gone have a comment on that venue?

Barber is a beautiful facility, but definitely not a Runoffs venue.

Paddock is too small and it is on tiers.  Track while fun to drive is very hard to pass and all straights are very short. it is fun in Sm, I imagine very cramped for faster cars.

Crossing the border will have the exact opposite effect Indy is having.  It's not a physical thing, it's mental.

Ok, the border mental thing trumps the history of the track with all the Formula One races, drivers, etc. I guess the history of Indy is different.

Just a suggestion. Carry on.

Now, let's say slow down a bit. Everyone in SCCA is always looking for spectators at SCCA races. Road racing is what they basically have in Canada. They don't have a whole $hit load of ovals. So, border and all it may be a consideration. Seems lately if it's different Topeka considers it ok to try.

I would love to go to Mosport.  It used to have SCCA Nationals.  I've never been, and wish there was a way to get a Major there.

I'd do anything to race at Mosport. I've time-trialed there a bunch, and it's my 2nd favorite track (behind VIR). The track is amazing and got so much better with the recent renovations.

So, it is probably premature, but when will the smack talk thread for the runoffs begin. Not that I have any to talk, but it is entertaining. Probably will need two threads, or is this so serious that no smack is talked? That'd be a shame.

And is there any way we could do a pool for the main race? Not just the top 3-5, maybe top.....25-50. Put in $10 and pick em. Probably would need a super computer to figure it all out.....or a Danica.

Maybe like a handicap or ranking, if your ranked #10 and finish 5th then you get 5 points etc...but then all of the drivers would have to be ranked or handicapped, Again, that would require a super computer, or someone gifted with a bunch of time on their hands.......The pointy end guys would be at a disadvantage but the top 3 or 5 could get double points or something.

Sorry, just bored and reaching while watching Boss Baby for the 27th time.

But since I am on it, if the rankings were below (don't get your panties in a wad) just as an example, and I don't know all of the best drivers, so this is just an example, no need to rebuke me for who is where etc.... but if a driver is not racing then the driver below moves up a spot for the race etc....

The Runoffs in general and specifically at Indy is serious business for the pointy end. Racers are a superstitious lot so they are probably going to be pretty quiet so as not to run the risk of bad Karma.

Engine, brakes, hubs, probably trans, maybe half shafts, maybe diff. All or some of those items will be new or rebuilt.
Some will have new paint.
4-7 SETS of stickers. 2 sets of H2Os.
$9 per gallon fuel.
Ridiculous entry fee
2 or more test days
8-11 days away from work and family.

Low side of this equation is 10k high side is 15k. There will be 20 -25 folks who spend that much money for the chance to get wrecked in turn 1 by some asshat that thinks p33 has a shot the win. Could be the asshat in p9 also. If most guys are like me, we are more dreading this race than looking forward to it.

This is very accurate! I don't like talking smack before big events. Always prefer to just try and show up prepared and see what happens.
The rest of your post accurate as well.. My car is being completely repainted as we speak.. New trans, calipers and rotors will be going on. The head will be coming off and new valves and springs installed. Hoping to buy only 4 sets of Hoosiers and one set of wets, but i am sure I will probably add to that at the track.
