For the 94-97 cars what is needed to convert it to the 99+ 4.30:1 final drive?
Also the Torsen limited slip differential is the only one allowed correct?
Thanks.

A couple options:
1. A 99+ torsen diff...drop yours and install this.
2. A 99+ open diff assuming you have a 94-97 Torsen. Remove your Torsen and install it in the open diff.
3. Or remove the ring and pinion gear off the 99+ open diff and install it in your existing 94-97 torsen diff
4. Buy a ring and pinion set from Mazda($485)and pay someone to install(as with option 3)
Axles and drive shaft are the same...
When you get done pulling your hair out to find or do one of these options call Drago!!

The gear sets are pretty spendy compared to some of the others I've built. Unless you are pretty able mechanically, eg can build an engine or trans, it's best left to someone that's done it before. You'll need a press, dial indicator, assorted seal and bearing drivers and in/lb and ft/lb torque wrenches. You'll need to get some gear paint and be able to read the patterns on how to adjust. If you don't get the toe and heel right you'll burn up the gear and pinion. When it comes to do mine, though I've done them before and have the tools, I'll likely just buy one.

FWIW, I did option two, I bought an open 4.3 took my existing 4.1 torsen and the 4.3 to my SM specialist and he did the swap at a very resonable price while we waited.
