You asked what makes the AllView different, just offering my experience (also forgot that I'd already posted in the thread, heh). By all means use whatever mirror you like best. From Dave's post, sounds like it isn't just Hoerr who is having issues. Hopefully it gets sorted out.
Advice on an inside rearview mirror

The best mirror I've used, sad to say, is a cheapy 8.95 clip on mirror from Walmart. I think Pep Boys has something similar. I tried the LA mirror and could never get it positioned right and then killed it with the helmet. Before that I tried a wink but could never get used to it. Scared myself silly. I zip tie the clip on mirror in place over the stock mirror in case the 'clips' fail and call it a day. The 11.75 length works just great in the Miata and isn't nearly as susceptible to helmet collisions.

We used to sell a bunch of AllView, cant get any longer... Try them direct.
A customer returned one of those long Longacre convex. I tossed it in the new car to just have something and it works well. I positioned it fiirther to the right so there are no helmet issues. I'm happy with it.

Who carries the AllView mirror these days? I can't seem to find a vendor with them but I do see them listed on their website.

Have never viewed the long 16ish inch mirror in a parts store as I have the many smaller mirrors by All View and other manufactures. Do a 17 inch by LongAcre at about half the cost, but need to buy attachment pieces.

Huh. This site is a lot less active, but I noted that many of the names above have actually logged in in 2019 (excluding the dearly departed), but maybe haven't posted. A couple of names haven't logged in here, but I've seen them active on the SM facebook groups.
And then there's us who just keep hanging around like a bad cold.

Isn't the Longacre convex?
What I like most about the Allview is that it wasn't convex so what you see in the mirror is unaltered and very similar to what you'd see in your typical street car rear view mirror.

Have you physically ha done in your hand? I don't know how one would get the view they show without it being convex. Check out a Longacre at a race shop or at the track. I can see from passenger to drivers window in a SM.

Very happy with the LongAcre convex mirror - you can see the view that it provides in my YouTube videos

The Allview is convex, but only in width vs. the Longacre which is convex in width & height.
