Wow..
Too much side to side movement on the front straight, and then 26 just turns into 76... WTH.
Did the Stewards take action?

They said they were going to after they looked at the in-car video from both of them.
Looks like the inside car got the dreaded side draft suck as he drifted back, then touched tires then, well you know the rest. Lessons are don't stay 1 inch away from you competitor when 1) you have the inside of the next turn and 2) you are near front to rear wheel synchronization. That appears to create the biggest side draft for whatever reason and there is no room for the sudden pull.
At best 26 squeezed him way too tight under the circumstances.
That is my bet the 26 did not like that he was not the faster car so he ran him into the dirt. With a track that wide there is no reason for it. If i were the chief there would be a two race DQ, as it looked like he had a rookie strip and that is not the way to start racing.

Stay away from that duo. Hope your car is ok.

Coming off the previous turn the #76 red car driver showed attitude. As in I need the whole track width moving left (intimidation) which made no sense because the next turn was a left.
I don't know any of these cars in the clip. Obviously the camera car took the worst of it. Having raced that track many times, I have a different opinion of what happened. I agree ( wow did I actually type that) with Bench. The red 76 car tried to squeeze the 26 car in hopes to get him to lift and not make the pass. The 26 car made the corner ( you typically need all the track at exit) 26 held it and left room and did not get into red 76 at track out.. The red 76 had a car width at exit, not sure who moved there or just likely both thought they were going "straight" and probably were, but they were on intersecting courses. They touched and the rest is history. Sucks for camera car unfortunately.

Moral of the story: Last year’s already well used tires won’t be good enough by Sunday afternoon to stay ahead of the kill zone.
Unfortunately, the 1.8's of these two pulled me on the start of the race. I out-qualified both of them. That was the case most of the weekend.

amazing 2 cars can crash in a straight line......
