Bruce, you never came by for the margarita. Although, it looks like in the picture above that you had just downed the bottle of champagne so you did ok. I wonder which is worse? A tequila or a champagne hangover?

"So how was your first Rose Cup Bill"?....Well, here is my analysis of the event. I was excited to get to PIR before 1pm to secure a paddock spot for my motor home and trailer. Knowing this was a pretty big event, I thought a big SM paddock with all the support vehicles would produce a comfortable weekend for us and provide a good show for all the attendees. I was pretty shocked when I saw how full the paddock was at 1pm on Thursday. As I snaked my way into the paddock it became very clear that my motor home and trailer were soon to be parted if I was going to have any chance of joining the group. There simply was no room! I briefly entertained the thought of separating said trailer and MH and placing them side by side with the car right there with them, but there wasn't sufficient room to park the enclosed and disconnect and reposition the MH....I was feeling a bit like a big sardine in a little can. So....I bolted for the south 40 and found a lovely spot in the SUN...on pretty nice lawn. As the hours passed by, it became increasingly clear that the lawn paddock area was going to have to be expanded. As I walked up toward the track toward the porta potties, I saw a Miata under a gorgeous stand of trees in the shade, close to the porta potties and on really nice lawn. I asked if I could bring my rig in and was warmly invited . Well, all I can say is I loved the area and actually felt like I was camping. Thanks to Jess, Darrell and Rick for the invite. We were later joined by Mark Stephanelli. Even with the rain and the issues of paddocking, I had a great time. If I could have changed one thing, it would have been to race before the Rose Cup. A lot of folks just bolted after the Rose Cup and I know we put on a heck of a better show. Seems the featured race could have been later to keep the fans there a bit longer. But, I enjoyed the race even though I wish I could have run faster. Don't know what next year will bring, but I am very glad to have raced and survived (albeit with a bit of dented fender and bruised wheel). Congratulations to Robert who just continues to get better and better. And thanks to all for the BBQ.

Bill-

PS: After a Monday morning appt with Doug at Loynings for a first time dyno tune of my car, I can now say that while I don't have what #55 has, I am not that far behind. For me it is the set up and the driver so it seems. No more excuses about tired old 125K motors. I just have to be better!!

Conrats on your podium finish, Bruce! Protests are never fun but it had to be done-should have done it myself long ago.

Jeff was on my mind all weekend at Laguna. I still can't believe he's gone.

I'm sure he's proud of your finish.
