I just had my 1994 SM's dif upgraded to a used 99T diff. On hard right turns there is a whining or whirring sound in the back left, any ideas if this is a normal torsian diff sound or not? I had a an old 93 diff.

I'm no expert, my car still has an open diff. But, neither of the torsen diff's I've driven made any kind of sound like that. So, no...I don't think that it is normal.

Axles rubbing the exhaust under g loading? Look for the tell tale signs on the exhaust and then adjust accordingly. There's not much clearance down there.

I'd be looking hard at the axle bearings. As a independant rear suspension set up, there shouldn't be any side load trasferred to the diff in turns. All that side G load is absorbed by the bearings. They can make noise if they aren't happy.
