SM cars are typically around 107-108 at the kink with a great Full throttle run through the carousel. In STL we are around 118mph and the foot is almost lifting of its own accord. But add aero and strange things happen. Drive the kink in iRacing with any car with decent downforce and its more stable than a Miata!

I was talking to a indy driver this weekend about some differences between a production car and a purpose built race car. He noted during a qualifying flyer lap, their minimum carousel speed they were seeing was 140mph and nearly 4g's.

INDYCAR: Downforce hot topic after Phoenix test
Thursday, 03 March 2016
Marshall Pruett / Images by LAT
The lingering question ahead of IndyCar's return to race at Phoenix is whether the series should slash downforce figures. Leaving last week's test on the one-mile oval, the physical toll exacted by an increase in downforce with the updated road course/short oval (RC/SO) aero kit packages from Chevy and Honda, and concerns over the quality of the 250-lap race in high-downforce trim, have fed an ongoing debate.
Drivers sustained – and surpassed – five Gs in the corners, which made for an exhausting experience, and with the cars carrying so much downforce, limited passing took place on shorter runs. Based on general figures from 2015, the RC/SO aero kit, at maximum downforce, was said to generate approximately 5500 pounds of downforce. The revised RC/SO packages from Chevy and Honda for 2016 are said to feature a maximum downforce increase of between 8-10 percent, which would put the cars close to 6000 pounds of potential downloading.
Shucks even I would feel like God with 5,500 pounds of down force.

No wonder they look so planted. They need to make those cars harder to drive IMO

Still better racing in SM
One second off the pace in SM is 16th on the grid
One second off the pace in Indy car is 6th on the grid
16th on the Indy car grid is almost 3 seconds off the pace.

its actually even closer than those times show as INdy car is 1 second off at 1:45 lap time.. not 2:45..
