Just to be clear - that was a joke... shortcut merges would be WAY too dangerous!

We have threatened to run the "oval track" at Thunderhill before, but there were timing/scoring issues. The "oval track" uses the cutoff from T15 to the bottom of T5 and the cutoff from T7 to T14. It would essentially be a short track oval race. I'd LOVE to do that!

Sure, do it during the Sunday warmup or qually? I'm gonna call you guys all kinds of horrible names if I tow 10 hours to use 10% of thunderhill in the SM mains.

Figure 8 would be A-ok with me if it was just the SM cars. Multi-class figure 8? No thanks.

How about on Saturday, each driver is allowed to take the shortcut from T7 to T15 twice during the race. On Sunday, we'll set up sprinklers on a few corners and turn them on and off randomly during the race.

Or you have to take the top of 5 once, the rest of the laps is the bypass! That would end well :P

I have never ran it clockwise but I am in! Short course I am always down for also!!

Vodden needs to start paving some new track, preferably in the hills off of 9. ;)

Hey, I got one vote. :D
Somebodys got a set.

CCW to turn 7, bypass to 13 (11)
CW to 8, bypass to 15, repeat.

Everyone should be slow through there anyway, in that it's a breaking zone into bypass, then having a single lane and then have to switch lanes. If you don't switch right you loose time.

But yes, multi-class could be more challenging.

As bad of an idea as figure 8 racing is, THIS almost looks doable! Looks like you could limit the possibility of carnage, although the point at which the two directions come together is incredibly high speed from both directions, meaning one small brain fart where a driver coming up from T6 continues on and apexes T8 at the same time another driver is coming down the hill into T8... Instant death at the exact same spot two drivers died 7 years ago when one overshot T14 and collided at the apex of T8.

Sorry, but not on my watch!

Use chicanes entering from each side to reduce speeds, maybe a "K" rail or two. Stop sign?
I tried.

Elliot wins, tyler gets second, a yellow jacket in third, and I take 4th. Pretty sure most everyone except elliot went flying off track at least once. I went down the dirt outside of 9 or 10 sideways :)

As for enduro 1, no idea.

Well that was quite an interesting weekend. When it seemed like Saturday's race couldnt get any crazier...Sunday's race came along! Great job everybody! There could have been way more contact in both races, but everybody kept it clean, well... for Spec Miata ;) Can't wait to race you guys up in Nor-Cal again!!

What a weekend.

Sundays race video will be a good one I am sure. The whole top 10 SM field battling through the specE30 field for the last half of the race, the last few laps consisted of 2 or 3 wide and nose to tail with mixed classes.

Hopefully I can have better luck next time.
