[Jim Daniels - FIG]

Mark had a crash at Canada corner today, cut from the car and air lifted to Milwaukee.

He has not come to yet but his CT is clear and all is hopeful. He broke his jaw, collar bone and ribs as of the last report.

His brother Mat is with him, more news as I get info.

Please keep Mark in your prayers.

I looked for a post on this topic, if there is one please let me know so I can consolidate.

Oh man.... a jaw fracture with a helmet on. That's just amazing. I'm glad to hear the CT is clear. Now we just pray that there is no DAI (brain stir).

Mark had a pretty good night.  He's been stable.  They are gonna repeat a CT scan this morning as a follow up measure for his brain bleed.  He talked a little more this morning but is still pretty lethargic and confused.  I'll keep you updated as we get the CT scan results this morning.  Talk soon.

Mark is getting to a regular room soon. He's more alert than he's been. He actually got to stand and take a few steps and is really making some good progress. He had some lucky charms (favorite cereal) and got some Gatorade. He's still pretty groggy and has a ways to go, but he is really showing off.

Latest:
He had a good night.  They transferred him out of the ICUand has done well.  He got up and used the bathroom.  He ate some dinner last night.  He's got a good bit of dizziness and nausea.  He's not quite awake all the way and is still groggy but will answer questions more appropriately.  He's made some good progress so far.  I'm hoping they'll let him get back to Atlanta on a medical flight in the next couple days.

That's awful. Many drivers have had horrific incidents at that corner over the years. Nice that they added pea gravel there years ago but it would be a huge safety improvement if they found a way to move the embankment and barrier further back.

Wow. That is where I rolled the ASedan during qualifying at the Runoffs last year. I had brake hop. Fortunately, I got it slowed down more than he did, and it dug in when it hit the gravel.

Dam, that is nasty. Wrecks like that are always in my mind when I am building or prepping a car. You always have to think will this hold up to a nasty wreck. Simple things like pop riveting your fire bottle in vs thru bolting with backing plates. Or that 100+ lbs of ballast on the passenger floor, Will it stay put in a wreck like Marks? Yea it might take more work to do it right but if all crap hits the fan you will be sure glad that you took the time.
