JD. Thanks for your answers. Your response to the sleeving issue, along with Tom’s response helped me understand the timing of this rule change. I did not think you were running sleeves, but I thought you might know who was, that’s why I asked.
As to the shot peening of cranks, your name was on the GCR clarification, that’s why I directed the original question to you. I stand by the story I heard regarding drilling the cranks, it does NOT relate to you, but I felt it needed asking, as I am not aware of a high incidence of crank failures in our class (in fact I have never heard of any) and so did not understand why the shot peening issue came up. My lack of understanding in this area is obvious.
JD, sorry if it came of that way, but I did not mean my questions to come off as an attack on your engines. I believe that your engines will be under as much or more scrutiny than anyone else because of your profile in our class, and I believe that you have more to lose than most if something is found to be beyond the rules.
