I just signed up. They said if they have any openings they will take other drivers first come, first served. You don't have to pay in advance so it's worth the time just to fill out their registration form. Being here in Austin makes this easy for me. :)

I was also Johnny on the spot... But I have not run with them for 3 years so I'm excluded unless Rick takes pity on me. I sent a pathetic email to him pleading for clemency but I don't hold out much hope :).

Get all the track time you can Wisler! Remember those less fortunate who have the same data system as you.... Just saying.

I'm amused to hear that Drago and Berry might be placed in MVP's beginner group. Worth paying money to watch that.

I kinda wish we all were going to have to learn the track at once just before SCCA just to see how we all fare on a level playing field. But I admit that if I can arrange time on track prior I will jump at it and not think twice!

Go figure, they placed me in the advanced group. I guess they just figured he was just a flash in the pan!!!!!

seriously I think it just depended on what spots were open when you signed up. that event sold out in a matter of hrs.

I made one small attempt to get "moved to a faster run group" I quickly realized that I most likely came across as the guy in the animation, so I stopped myself :) I have a feeling that they may not have any clue what they are in for :)

Brian
maybe a few laps of video with some track notes are in order?

I'll be at The Drivers Edge event on Sunday and will definitely have video running. I've done about five or six laps in a CTS-V already, and hopefully Saturday I will get to help a few folks learn the track and get to see the track from the right seat before I drive it on Sunday. It was okay in a CTS-V, but I suspect my Miata will be a lot more fun!

I can do that. I have an AIM system and video, so I should be able to gather some decent video.

Has anyone tried to book a room in Austin for the race? Same weekend as sxsw festival(3/8-3/17).
Everything is booked or 4-5 night min with jacked up rates. Flights are also pricey and scarce. Who picked the date?

I'm planning on staying in my trailer at the track. $700 in fuel to travel down there is enough thank you very much...

March is tradition for the Double National. That weekend was the best option avaiable, other weekends were worse.

Check for hotels in Buda, Kyle, and Bastrop. All are within 30 minutes of the track, and San Marcos is an other 15 minutes past Buda.

Or Seguin, which is on the Tollway, and only about 20 minutes away at the posted 85 mph speed limit.

My trucks rev limiter is 84 I think ;-). Thanks for the recommendations. Given that there is no shower facility, perhaps it is time to look into hotels...
