Well I was finally able to gain acceptance of my authorization, but once in, there was no history of races, save a 2007 practice session at Mid Ohio? WTF? Talk about a huge CF. I'll use Danny's link and vent there.

I suggest that MyLaps changes their "About Page" to read
About MYLAPS
We invented automatic sports timing. Thousands of events that previously used stopwatches and thumbs to keep track of results now rely on MYLAPS technology, but we have NO idea how to Beta test our products, NO idea how to keep our customers happy, and to be honest we are total dipshits! Oh yes, and you are stuck with us so nanananana!
You have got to warn a brothah when you're gonna go and type out something like that!
You owe me a new keyboard (coffee)!

I found the confirmation email in my spam folder (gmail) and am now able to log in. The page only works properly with my Chrome browser, not Firefox. Also I don't see a way to sort the results by class, so I'm not sure how I can submit my results for contingency.

When I upgraded, I wasn't receiving the confirmation Emails. I tried multiples times. I eventually found them in the Gmail SPAM folder. Very fitting.
CheckerLap.com -- Your race results!
I "upgraded" the first day and it's pretty much a train wreck. I was communicating with an official from one of the off road sanctions and he had spoken to his contact at AMB and was convinced they would fix it soon. He's only worked with them for a few years and based on the way AMB has handled things like this previously, I don't hold much hope that they'll get it sorted out quickly.
In addition to the other things that have either disappeared or don't work, they also don't let you sort results by class for combined run groups.
They really stepped on their Johnsons in golf shoes. Again...
I don't understand why they released an "upgrade" with less functionality than the old site. Without being able to sort the results by class, what good are they?
Duncan
NASA Norcal drivers can go here:
http://norcal.nasatiming.com/
Since those say "unofficial" in big letters on the printout, I assume they won't work for Contingency claims though, right?
Duncan
Besides SCCA and NASA agreeing to using another system what would it take to put a better product on the market?
Anyone know how mylaps makes any money? Ads? They've really screwed up the upgrade but it's hard to complain too much about free stuff. I'd rather pay to get something good. I got a huge laugh when I went to pick which American time zone I am in. The choices were just weird and there are a couple dozen to choose from or more.
If I were Motorsportreg, I might be inclined to build the better mouse trap and charge a fee.
I "thought" mylaps was owned by AMB? They are doing pretty well on 500 transponders

Not only does AMB own it, they've rebranded the timing systems and transponders to the myLaps brand.
As for clubs replacing timing system, I think it could be as much about money as anything else. The software, decoder and loop are 8 grand or so for the base config, not counting any RMON install or transponders and charging cases. By the time all is said and done the club could be 15-20k into getting another system. And of course everyone that owns a transponder replacing it. I don't know that it's realistic to change at this point.
The question is, does myLaps own the data? If not, a decent programmer could build a web based system that used the transponder numbers to do the same thing as the myLaps site, only much better. I don't remember signing a license for the use of the transponders, do the organizations have to do so for the timing systems?

Doesn't look like the EULA restricts the use of the results.

I did the upgrade, I did not play with it to long, but I could not find any of my results. Is it me? Has anyone figured out how to find them?
Frank:
From what I can tell it simply doesn't work. I have one practice session for 2007 in my entire history. This is a serious CF on the part of the folks behind the system.

Maybe we should all open tickets explicitly demanding the features of the old site that we depend on.
1. view events in driver history
2. sort race results by class
Any others?
