I have never tried this yet but a friend of my said when your trying to take the axles out of the hub that an air chisel with a pointed end that fits into the indent on the end of the axle works to bust it lose. can't confirm it but it may be worth a try.

Tried it many times. It does work, but 50% of the time you'll scratch something.
Truth be told, if you can fit an air chisel, you can fit a puller (good one).

I use my demo hammer...about 1/2 the size of a 60lb jack hammer. Same concept as the air chisel but hits a LOT harder! Have had 2 axles that i couldn't get out...they looked like Railroad spikes after this and a 8lb sledge hammer(at this point it was just to see if I could get it to move). I should post the picture of these axles! BTW...these were after a 20 ton press failed first!

Push by hand
Couple wacks with a hammer
air chisel in dimple
10 ton press.
Never had one not come apart of done properly on a press.
