Congrats Justin - thanks for sharing the video, always great to see another perspective.

Any idea what happened to Stearns in Turn 8 on the last lap? Great recovery for him to get back to you. And really shows just how much Haldeman was skunked by the three of us going off in T12.

Here's a shortened version from my in-car.

Justin
I have to offer my sincere congratulations. I don't think most people have any idea what it takes to pop in a new car for the first time and be competitive, let alone win the June Sprints. I have sat in many of our builds through the years, while all are built the same, they are all a little different. They all take a little getting used to and fit to your liking etc. Let alone the different style needed in a 99 vs the 1.6. I would like to take some of the credit, but while the car was obviously capable of winning, the credit sits squarely with you and Troy for dialing the car in so quickly to your liking and your obvious ability behind the wheel. You will be a even more of a threat moving forward. The results are about as storybook ending as you can get! Very proud to be associated with it, even in such a small way. Good luck for the rest of the season

Thanks again
Jim

The way I read this is...WOW you did great in one of ours cars, you won the sprints right out of the box...We are going to sell a lot more cars because of this!...No more good shit for this guy he's too fast ;)

Congratulations Justin! Nice run.

Thanks guys....yes a great car for sure.

Jim-  I think Mike is right I was your best salesman last weekend.  Lots of folks asking about the car.  It was fast out of the box.

That being said Troy and I did work very hard all weekend to tweak the setup and get it handling to my liking. The car has good power, but you are right when you said until you can get it to negotiate fast right handers perfectly, you will not stay up front.

Danny-  I believe Stearns got crossed up and was in the wrong gear coming out of 8, I heard him try a couple gears before he got it back in 3rd.

And yes, I realize how all the stars aligned for me in this race (to the dismay of the other top 4 guys), but that is racing and I'll take it.  With the new car and running with you guys up front that I have not run with before, my plan for the race was to drive safe and make no mistakes, and was hoping doing that would give me a shot at top-5 finish.  It worked better than imagined.

I wasn't planning on doing the Runoffs, but after the Sprints my tune has changed.  See you all back there in a few months!

While you and Mike may be right, I'm serious in what I said. Mike knows as well, getting in these cars and winning week one is VERY hard anywhere, almost impossible! Then you debut at the Sprints, that makes it 10x harder.

I think it is going to be a hell of a show, glad you are coming!

Everything connected to the rear wheels in my car is being changed as we speak. All the suspension, bushings, shocks, rear end, calipers, axles you name it. Something back there is/was possessed and we are having an East Street exorcism and ridding the car of any demonic spirits hidden within :)

You have changed some things Danny in your driving style...the improvement shows!

I think i noticed this as well. Danny can tell me if i'm wrong. In earlier videos, it looked like you would do several (more than one) fast, large inputs at turn in - to get nose pointed in right direction. Now, at turn in, it looks like a more constant continuous input without sudden big inputs. Also, after the apex, there seems to be less counter steer corrections - more of a steady, smooth unwinding of the wheel until track out. Did i get this right? Danny will probably say nothing at all has changed and we are on drugs.

Being someone brought up the issue at SCCA NJMP, was there any tech at the June Sprints?

No idea what happened post race but during qualifying they checked my restrictor, alternator output and took fuel sample

I have no issue with the looks of your car - kinda like the yellow.

However, don't insult the rest of us by bringing a car that has that much more HP than the entire field and expect us to believe it is legal.

Here is what the video clearly shows:  With a good exit of turns 3, 12, 14, my car
sticks to the drafting train of Voytek and Tom Brown.  When they pass each other, or pass Drago, the
draft pulls me in even more. Voytek and Tom’s  cars are showing about the same power as mine. When I
do not exit turn 14 and turn 3 well, you can stay very close up the hill and pass
me exiting 3.

My car has always been legal, will always be legal, and it
will continue to be legal at Gingerman for the next SCCA Major event.

If anything it seemed the camera car was having its own issues.

Not sure what you mean on the issues, I cant remember where Todd started (outside top 10 for sure), but he got to p5 at the finish, and could see P1 on the front of the train...

It was a more determined drive then even Danny's from saturday, and that is really saying something.  The issues here are the issues...

We all spend alot of money on this sport, most of us a bit high strung, and our passions often show.  We all want advantages on each other, and we all try hard to develop those.  At the end of the day Most butnot all of us just want a fair fight without pushing past the grey and into  to the black.

I know all the parties involved in this discussion, all are good people and I have confidence that the issue/issues will be worked out in their enirety!

I suspect this conversation will be coninued out of the sight of most...

I wish SCCA could control the starts at Road America as well as they did at the Nationwide race.
