I have the Mazdaspeed Bosal exhaust required for SSM on my car. The tailpipe hits the tow hook mount and rattles badly at idle. I've tried to bend the tailpipe, but the steel is too thick and it doesn't want to budge. Everything looked like it was mounted right, but I'm not sure.

Has anyone had a problem like this? Is there anything I should look at that might be put together wrong?

Something may be bent because there should be plenty of clearance.

Add some heat into the pipe with a torch to get it to bend

Andrew, they all rattle to some degree. Things to check include the donut mounts (make sure they are intact) and then loosen everything up and see if you can't use the slop in it (there ain't much) to,adjust away from the tow hook. Also, make sure the tow hook itself isn't bent.

If all else fails, shim/washer-up the tow hook enough to keep it from vibrating on it while @idle.

You won't notice the noise when at-speed (or at least you shouldn't.)   :cheerful:

Usually related to trans/motor alignment.  Check the alignment of the PPF and bottom of trans.  This was always the case with mine.  Loosen the PPF bolts, realign, snug, check clearance.

Just to make it clear, I don't have a tow hook on that side, it's the structure of the car where one mounts that is hitting.

Sounds like I need to loosen and adjust the exhaust and the PFP next time I get a chance. If that doesn't help, I guess I'll have to take it off, heat it up and bend it. I was hoping to avoid that since it sounds like a pain.

Thanks for the advice.
