Keith, I am not in the know but i suspect that is about the size of it.
If we get past the why of it, do you think pushing back the enforcement, of a rule change to say 2017, mitigates some of the negative effects of all of what you and others have laid out?
As you can see, this has been my thought about the deal.
Frank, Yes I do. If the rule is passed as proposed I think a 1/1/2017 implementation would mitigate the burden both financially and practically.
It would also get people through the 2015 & 2016 runoffs.
Haven't been on the site in a long time but it was brought to my attention that someone claimed that heads were found illegal at NOLA and not kicked. As the local chief steward for that event I can tell you that it wasn't brought to my attention. I've contacted Ken Patterson, the conference chief, and he says the same thing.
When I did a search against the rule change in the GCR. Under the new definition of blue printing it allows .040 radius after machining. The SM rules prohibit the blue printing of rotating assemblies. The head isn't a rotating assembly and can be blue printed. Is that how we are twisting the .040 radius out of the head rules?

James - Realize this is the internet. The misinformation here has nothing to do with you and your fellow Stewards doing the great job you do. All here I'm sure offer sincere thanks for your volunteering and the hard work you do.
The .040 is far more arbitrary and pointless than what you are referencing.
The claim is the .040 falls under, if the rules don't say you can then you can't. Many of us realize that just does not work when it comes to defining a technical spec of this type.
The misinformation here is more about an agenda driven by a few within the Spec Miata community.
I'm sure no one has any ill feelings toward you or your fellow stewards.
Don't give it a second thought.
