Not to add confusion (mud) to an already cloudy topic but my take is essentially this:
Run what your engine builder says to run and to change it on their schedule too.
As Frank mentions, you've spent entirely too much money on a new engine to leave it to your own designs on maintenance.
They're the one who (should) have torn apart any number of street and/or other built engines to determine what's going to be best for what they're selling you.
And echoing Dave, only your builder will know what size balls you need on the inside.
For my new build, Kessler says to run a 75/25 mix of 0W-40 Mobile1/15W-40 DelVac respectively and to change after each weekend. $27/5q jug for M1 and $12/4q jub for DV....do the math, plus the filter, and it's cheap insurance to keep your builder from claiming you did something wrong. I will be backing this up with Blackstone UOA testing too. Have two samples to send off in fact...
Previously in my crate motor (ran for 5 seasons) I had ran Joe Gibbs XP1 and followed their process of filter replacement, draining another 1/2q, then topping off. Effectively swapping out 25% of the oil after each weekend with a new filter. UOA on that process showed no significant changes/wear/issues over the 2.5 years I followed that schedule.
Which reminds me, I owe someone here on the board a posting of my UOA reports from a thread a few years ago...oops!
