Impressive effort by all to avoid the kind of carnage that no doubt went through the minds of many as it started to rain. A lot of SM critics were silenced for at least awhile. Congrats to all the drivers and especially to Goring for just racing his ass off till the checkered flew.

But I must say that it was very disappointing to not see the kind of 20 or more car train swapping places in pairs that probably would have happened dry. There may never again be a chance like that at the runoffs and it would have been so damn cool. I wish they could all stick around another day and try it again.

A quick shout out to our newest local SM racer Max Nufer who started 29th and finished 15th ahead of some pretty talented drivers, and just behind several others. An impressive showing just a handful of races into his first season of auto racing.

I'm with Steve!!! We should run it again tomorrow night even just as a side show. The night racing was great the grid was electric with all the energy and excitement!!!!! Can not believe the race stayed green the whole time. A true testament too the pro level of all racers involved!!!!

Exceptionally well run race given the conditions.  Congratulations to really everyone for keeping it so clean.  Fun to watch and nice to see some new names at the pointy end.

That was an impressive performance by all under the conditions. It made me proud to be a part of the class. Congrats to Goring that was an earned win. Alex and Corey put on a flawless performance. They executed, I am sure they are not satisfied but they ran a good race.

Now lets hope no tech drama we really do not need that.

That's what I'm wondering- did everyone clear tech cleanly?

At night... in wet/drying conditions, and incredibly impressive performance by everyone in the SM field.  I'll admit, after watching the H Prod race, I had some concerns about SM.  But they put on a clinic, with many more cars, and much tougher conditions!  Big CONGRATS to everyone in the SM field!!!

That's one I'd actually like to watch a few more times!   :toast:

Big thumbs up to the entire field!   And, great pass by Goring. If this discipline is maintained with the close racing the class is known for, we'll quickly erase our "Wreck Miata" labeled reputation.

Due to the late time of the race, the cars were impounded and tech will be taking place this morning.

Top three cars are torn down into tiny little pieces. Engines to the cranks, entire drive line pulled apart. Checking shocks, spindles and other parts in suspension from what I can see. Heard rumor that they had found a way to check ECUs. JUST A RUMOR not confirmed.

I don't think you can yet. They will be selling DVDs again so not sure if they will put the video out free anymore? Are they still using SpeedCastTV just without their site?

Yes they can but for what? I had my ECU pulled at the NASA Nats a few years back they pulled it took it into a room, put some Evidence tape on in and gave it back to me.
