Johnny D...not that it matters, but it was just one valve that failed (barely). All the others were good.

Is that ^ sort of like being a little bit pregnant.

IMHO, the slight infraction, whether one valve or two, did not affect on track performance.
I will also compliment the driver on both his drive and how he took the news of the penalty. Well done.

It is to people who have never had to deal with tech of any sorts. Most others look at this as a very unfortunate event that cost a very nice and talented driver a Runoffs podium that he didn't deserve to lose. I agree with Dave's comments above. I think most who have been subjected to a Runoffs tear down or even heads pulled at majors this year have similar feelings to mine. IMO, it is much easier to be certain your stuff is 100% compliant and critical of others when you know your stuff will never be looked at. But you know what they say about opinions..

Agree a couple valve shrouds had no on track advantage. On the other hand when a person procures a pro engine there are expectations the pro engine will be 100% compliant. IIRC the check tool is .005 inch over maximum shroud radius.
Maybe someone should write a very nice and talented Runoff driver letter to the CRB.
I'd hate as much as anybody to have something on my car show up illegal, for me it would be a random tech. My wrapped snorkel today and the last race I did was illegal. Any entrant could have busted me at that race.

Per the GCR and Runoffs Supps, is it mandatory to disqualify the driver because of a tech infraction? Could they have given a warning or lesser penalty?
--because someone commented that we should all post our names, and not be anonymous. I agree.

Off topic:
Did you get temperature data from you latest outings. Very curious if we can pin point the reason for the increase in intake temps. Still don't believe it's happening through the plastic intake tube, but I am willing to admit there are things beyond my grasp that happen everyday.

.
You are correct in all that you posted above... I agree with all that you posted above.. I will never have this issue on any engine we build as we put our reliefs .005 under the rule, not the tool. However I do make the distinction that shit happens even when it shouldn't, even when no one intentionally wanted it to happen.
To each their own, but to me this is a non issue other than it cost someone their best finishing position ever and it was a shame. I think the issue( if there is one at all), is one is between the engine builder and the driver, not us. The point I am trying to make is that all but the irrational drivers that finished behind Corey don't feel "cheated". I think it is fair to say that most feel terrible about it and wish he didn't lose his finishing position, especially Alex his team mate who moved up to take the last podium spot.
