Oh wow, this is the first I've seen of this new rule. Still building my car but I'm 6'6" 265lbs and I've been having a really hard time placing my seat in a way that I fit comfortably without having my head with a helmet rest on the roof (ultrashield seat, no padding). I've always worried about touching the floor but me being a tall heavy guy obviously is no advantage even with a slightly lowered seat pan. I still weigh more than most and am likely to be overweight with no ballast.

You have me by three inches, but I have you by 25 lbs and make weight. Try harder ! :) the seat drop is a HUGE help to fit in the car

We're about to install one of Jim's panels in our VVT build. Can't wait to actually fit well in one of these cars.

Full disclosure: SMAC chairman, my opinions do not reflect anything to do with the SMAC unless specifically stated.

Has anyone with the lowered seat ridden over a curb and made contact on the curb? With a regular floor I went over the curb at T16 at Sebring and had a good rubbing underneath.

I did that in session two on test day. No issues, but I did think about it afterwards and didn't do it again. The new floor is thicker than the old one, so really not an issue, but at some point you do realize your ass is now closer to the ground and that curb :)

Clayton identifies his car as a 1990. spec line 2275 pounds. Car weight 2000# at best + driver 265# + gear = 2265 to 2300# ??? Only numbers and each is different.

He can get under 2000 if need be and even at 2000 he will make weight with gear, no cool suit.

Not easy and can't get too carried away on the cage, but should be possible. For an extra 15lb go to the overbore engine spec.

In all reality doing a bit of guestamating my car weight would be:

2020# - 14# cool suite water - 5# for cool suite cooler/hose - 7# for 1 gallon of safety gas - 12 ft extra cage tubing @18# = 1976 pounds.
