And to your reference of equality, you have not reading posted by me since the proposed bones were presented. The proof will be if there is any 99 plus bitching about the NA 1.6 capability during year 2016.
actually the proof will be when people agree they are getting beat on talent and prep, not the rules.. Lets face it, that will NEVER happen. And to your reference of equality, you have not reading posted by me since the proposed bones were presented. I know it would probably never happen but I wish the runoffs were set up like the NASA champs. too many cars to shorten it to four days but if you leave it as a whole week:
Day 1:Qual
Day 2:Qual
Day 3:Qualifying race
Day 4:Qualifying race
Day 5: National championship race
More racing, less qualifying. You have to be good every session to have a good starting position. And, I think everyone likes to race more than qualify. Just my thoughts.

You have to remember, the SCCA has like 24 classes to hold championship races. I think they can get the grouping to 18, but that is 3 full days of just races.

Three full days of racing has been the actual case for years.

Agree. If you think about it, there is more "racing" during a dual race Majors event and even many dual regionals than there is during a week to crown a National Champion.
James, I agree there are a lot of classes which limit the week being shortened. But maybe some consolidation of classes into one group could be time saving and more exciting. For example, the GT fields at Daytona were terrible. GT1 had only four cars finish and the leader was half a lap ahead of 2nd place. GT2 had 22 which is pretty decent, and GT3 only had nine finishers. Combine those cars into one group and we eliminate 2 run groups, and make it more exciting with 35 cars similar to Trans am multi class racing which could make that race very fun to watch.
T1 had 12 cars
T2 had 19
T3 had 5
Two more classes down
All theoretical, but it could work.

I am sure you could data mine all the past runoffs entries for past years and locations to see if you could come up with an idea. I think you can still find that info on the SCCA website.

Much like the frustration you deal with at registration.. The Runoffs schedule is even more of a challenge IMO than what you deal with in registration. The CRB has fooled with this schedule and tried to limit, combine etc since as long as I can remember. it is all great until it effects "you" or "your" class is always the problem we faced. I agree from the outside in this looks very doable, but in reality it gets to be very complicated. Until the club cuts down on the number of classes we have, it will be very tough. many a cant race with b, b cant race with C, D is on slicks and f is on radials.. G has wings, H doesnt. "I" is way too fast to run with "J".. "K" and "L" run similar lap times but make the time so differently that it will ruin each others races. And twenty other potential pit falls

It really just boils down to lack of effective leadership and backbone. There are many scenarios that work, just nobody willing to take a stand... The SCCA has lost focus of what they do (did) well and now in an effort accommodate some they fail everyone.

Correct! Many good plans have been put out before. While I was on the CRB, the bod asked us to cut classes by the rules. When it came time to start cutting classes, we again asked the BOD if they were sure that this is the direction they wanted us to go.. We were assured at the Runoffs, we were told to cut classes, After being assured by the BOD before the Runoffs that they were on board. The CRB made the announcement at the tent meeting. You can imagine how that went when we told a group of racers that their class was going away. the next day the BOD rescinded the plan
