Just thought I'd start a Gateway Majors thread.  Haven't been to the track in years and really excited to get back there.  Looks like the go kart track takes up a lot of potential parking spots so it might be tight?  Anyone out there with experience on this?

Yes. It will be very tight. NASA had about 140 last weekend and it was a challenge. Lots of space outside the oval but that sucks because the crossover is closed when the track is hot and the tunnel is all the way around on the back side.

Or not. I'd hate to see us set some kind of record for low total turnout for a Majors tour event. This is embarrassing. How can we entice some of you to come show us how it's done? Stay over and get free dyno time Sunday night? Free door passes to the strip joints by our shop and a wad of 1s? I really don't want the difference between a podium and DFL to be 2 positions.

28   Scheifler, Tom Spec Miata   1990 Mazda Miata  Saint Louis, MO

Track record:

Richard Wiese 1:12.017 2008

Rich will be there in a SRF3

For my 2 cents the average speed is 79.9800 MPH which when compared to other tracks suggests the track is slow compare to 90 MPH tracks being fast, 85 MPH tracks being intermediate and 80 MPH tracks being slow. I've to date compared 9 different tracks.

Best racing to all. Will monitor from live timing and scoring.

When Steve, Tom or Jessie win... Will we have parity or can I start complaining in the other direction? As I think it is very likely :)

Do as you threatened to do and build yourself a 1.6.

Seriously Jim, there have been a couple 1.6 Divisional wins this year. Do whatever you believe is correct for the class. It was fun at the Farm to view the 1.6 in the mix instead of being a second class citizen. Personally, I'm going to keep on watching. If things get favored towards the 1.6, there's always the famous 25 pounds that others thought kept everything in perspective. :rotfl:

Michael, have fun at the Pitt Majors. 4 or 5 tough competitors. Did Jason Kohler withdraw?

Weather forecast looks promising for new track record. But both races are after 1pm.
Would be nice to see a few last-minute entries for SM. I thought there would be at least a couple from IL / WI.

I haven't talked to Jason, but Kristen and I are staying home also...  Think we are going to race 1 day at Waterford...  15 minutes to the track instead of 5 hours sounded alot more relaxing.

Interesting. It does not feel slow after you exit the high-bank and unwind to the outside wall. Or when you kink left for T1 at the end of the front straight and struggle to slow for T2. But the infield part of the track drops the average speed significantly.

One track does not parity make..... If that were the case the 1.6L would have gotten a lot of love sooner than now :)

If I'm not mistaken, Jason was on the SM entry list and is no longer there. Hope he makes it to Pitt.

I'm going to Pitt.  Still on the entry list, must have just missed me!  Easy to do, big white blank space where most people type in a sponsor  ;)
