1.6's be Eatin Cake :)

Its uber close, but I think it went too far, one bomber driver in a 1.6 might change the mindset of many. Do it Jim :)

Your point 1 is so funny.

Your point 2, don't feed the bear, he'll want to raise the weigh so he makes weight at 2275 pounds. :rotfl:

Come on, play nice, how about being transparent ^.

Being were into historical stuff, remember when you suggested my friend would be hard pressed to do well in SM. He's in 4th in TA2, minus 26 points after VIR.

Let me interject about your friend.  He would be fine in SM.  He would not dominate.  TA2 is not the drivers class SM is by any means.  It took a real paid professional 3 practice days to lay down a time comparable to mine at Watkins Glen last weekend.  I did mine in 25 laps never having driven the track before.  He holds the track record in another class.  Those of us that drive these cars at the pointy end know how to get every little bit of speed out of them and it takes others some time to figure it out.

Erik, based on what data is the 1.6 equal down the straight? That's a more complicated thing to determine than it sounds. First of course conditions must be the same including wind, identical tire pressures would be nice, starting speed/RPM, and obviously no draft whatsoever. Then you need to look at the time from point A to point B, not trap speed or acceleration graphs each of which can be misleading depending on other factors. It can be done, but probably only if planned in advance. The differences we are talking about are easily lost in the noise without careful control, but that doesn't make them irrelevant given the number of laps and straights per race.

Michael, my comment was "do well", your comment was " would not dominate", there's a hell of a difference between the two comments, but your comment serves your purpose.

Jim, with no disrespect a young heralded Spec Miata driver is 13 points behind my friend in 5th place. That could be reversed at the next race.

Two guys I have a bunch of respect for on this site and they both understand and race very well are Tyler and Adam and let it be suggested part of their quick rise is because of their lifetime racing experience, as is my friends lifetime racing experience including racing school in Europe, along with 5 SCCA Runoffs Championships, E prod, DSR, H prod, F 1000 and H prod in the same day. Another of the site folks wet driving capability y'all fall all over, guess what my friend is also totally experienced driving dirt sprint cars and has several ice racing wins and IIRC a ice racing championship.

So you are making your case bc he is ahead (Barely) of one guy who was/is a good Sm driver...
long story short Dillon is one of MANY good SM drivers..

Until he races here .. neither of us will know.. you can think whatever you like, but it means nothing, neither does my opinion... so really who gives a %#%*

And Dillon hasn't finished a few races if I remember correct. So the fact that he is now just a bit in front of him doesn't say much. And Dillon was ahead of him before VIR. At road America your fiend was mid pack in the rain until several front runners had issues. Then he was mid pack of those that finished.

I continue only because of the "likers", kind of like a :grouphug:

And Dillon hasn't finished a few races if I remember correct.

At road America your fiend was mid pack in the rain until several front runners had issues. Then he was mid pack of those that finished.

Your point 1 correct, Dillon hasn't finished 3 race laps and Loshak hasn't finished 2 race laps.

Your point 2, correct and I had stated "That could be reversed at the next race".

Your point 3, correct Loshak finished 6th/20 car field or 6/13 cars that finished the race

When one looks at the season trend Loshak was lumpy 2 races at the get-go and Dillion had a hiccup race 1 has been lumpy the last two races. From my perspective their both very good drivers inTA2.

Jim and Sean, do you agree with the lumpy comment?

Tyler, the NA 1.6 engine is also slightly uglier and some drivers would be over weight in a 1.6.

Jim, sit back and enjoy a cost controlled/sorta spec class race. You may like what you see, it's kind of like some of your races, get a lead, yellow flag, get a lead yellow flag and continue to the finish flag.

For any that were at the Indy track day this year, Can a 1.6 get around the entire track without needing 5th gear with that 7200RPM redline?
