In other news, it was a very tight points battle for the Southeast Majors Championship coming into this weekend between Selin Rollan Jr (Defending Champ), Michael Carter, and Alex Bolanos. 

 

The finishing order after this weekend:

 

Alex Bolanos (Autotechnik):     171

Selin Rollan (BSI/Rossini):       170

Michael Carter: (Rossini):         161

 

That is crazy how close that finishing order is with the two Cubans coming down to just ONE point after the best 8 races.  Below is how well you have to finish all year long in order to win the Southeast Majors Conference.

 

Alex Bolanos:     3 Wins, P2 x3, P4, and a P5, (with no drops)

Selin Rollan:       3 Wins, P2 x2, P3 x2, and a P4. (Drops: P5, P6, P7, P62)

Michael Carter:   1 Win,  P2 x4, P3 x2, and a P5. (Drops: P5 x2, P6, P21)

 

Congrats to all three drivers on a stellar year!

Also, I want to congratulate PMoney on his first Major's Podium!!  Yewwww!  He is driving very very well, has a good car, and he will get a win soon!

Correction - Alex got 6th in the second race ... so him and Selin Rollan tied at 170 points. But, I believe the tie break goes to Alex for more second place finishes.  Talk about a close points race!

First off, congrats to Alex on the championship! Well deserved, especially for not having any drop races!

I'm really glad to see this track got a Majors date back on the calendar, add on the summer heat with tire falloff which allowed everyone to deal with unexpected challenges such as tire management. Maybe for future Roebling National events we could discuss the option for a 1 set tire limit rule? I know it would be a hassle but it would be nice to cut the budget a little bit .

Saturday went pretty well for me after qualifying 4th for the the first race. The car drove pretty good and I think I had something for them if I could of stayed in their draft a bit longer. Unfortunately, a lap car spun out trying to get out of our way (10:40) and amazingly everyone missed him.. Luckily everyone avoided him or the results could have ended badly. After the accident, I was able to manage the gap to 4th to grab my first majors podium! I want to thank everyone that congratulated me, it means a lot to get that type of support!




Sunday was a bit rocky for me, we lost the handle of the car in qualifying and we were not able to find a good balance for the race. The multiple double yellows helped me out a lot by being able to cool the tires down. Very happy to finish 4th after sliding every corner the last few laps. 



Hopefully the turnout for next year will even be higher because it was a great event to attend, thanks to all that made it possible!

Wow. Everyone should start watching at 16:20 of race two and wait til you get to T3. I guess stopping the clock from running is more important than racing your teammate clean. Not to mention not racing your teammate clean who would secure the southeast championship if he finished 2nd or better.

Can't say I'm not surprised.

I agree with the 1 Set Tire Limit Rule for the complete weekend with 1 Tire Replacement due to damage from an Accident or a Flat. The majority of the field cannot replace tires with new stickers every session or couple of heat cycles to get the competitive edge for qualifying or the first few laps of a race and gain a lead.

 

If other aspects of the car are restricted by rules to keep the cars equal and the competition equal then why not tires. New tires have a way bigger advantage compared to the car being 5 lbs. under weight or if the car has 5 mm wider track width which are limited by rules but new tires has no limits or restrictions. 

 

Just my thoughts but I have been told that I'm not a Top Level Driver so I'm not that important.
